My car is "learning" it has no CAT?

So I have no CATs...AR downpipe, been on the car for 4+ years...love it...however, every year I would need to swap back the factory DP to pass inspection, pain in the ass but I love having kitty-less pipes.

Long story short, I have an old BMS CAN tool I use to get rid of the CEL Light on the dash, without it I get the CEL light like everyone else. BUT last year, I unplugged the CAN tool a few days before inspection was due, and after 400+ miles...the CEL never came.

I brought it into get inspected and to my disbelief, it passed...

So this year I did the same thing, I need a sticker and after 200+ miles with no CAN tool...I get no CEL light...bringing it in tomorrow for a sticker.

Also on cold starts it hits just 900 RPMs instead of 1500 as it did w the CAT. From what I've been told, cold starts are just for "warming up" the CAT. Anyone know what's going on??

Lol I have never heard of this happening before. Are you sure your cat efficiency shows ready? Some states let you pass with one of the emissions items incomplete.

I can tell you I forsure failed with catless dp in Illinois even with no codes thrown on mhd...lol

Its possible that with the dinan tune, maybe its just reading enough from the rear o2's to not fail. I dunno. Mine definitely failed. The catalyst was completely turned off...lol

I tried it w the catless year 1 and it failed. Year 2 failed. Year 3 failed. Year 4 passed. Year 5?

Weird. Well hopefully it passes for ya. I just had to take mine in for emissions. Thankfully we n55 guys have it easy for changing the dp. I had mine out and back in under an hour...lol

- 427 Miles
- No SES light
- CAT and 02 still...NR
- P0240 present

CODES CLEARED

Trip 3
- Currently - 273 miles
- No SES light
- Will check 02 and CAT later tonight after I get home
- Codes? we shall see

Very weird. What even weirder for me is after i re-installed the catless dp after i passed emissions, I'm now getting a code for the o2 sensors that i didn't get before. Same tune as before. Not sure why but this check engine light is bugging the shit out of me...lol

Yes. I just found out why. My dumbass still had the box selected for oem/catted dp from when i flashed to stage 0. I saw that when i was flashing to my new custom e30 map...jeez completely forgot about that...lol
