Looking for 135i Track Square Wheel/Tire Combo with no adapters, rolling fenders, etc
I'm looking at getting some dedicated track wheels/ tires.
I haven't been able to find the exact information I need in existing posts, let me know if there is something out there I missed. I want to get something that doesn't require spacers, fender rolling, adapters etc. Ideally the the largest size I can fit without these and without any rubbing / other issues etc. Im currently looking at these wheels: TR Motorsports C2 Size:17x8.5 Offset:40mm Backspacing:6.26" Bolt Pattern:5-120 Rec. Tire Size:225/45-17 Weight:19.0 lbs. and these tires: VENTUS R-S3 (VERSION 2) Size: 225/45ZR17 Thanks |

Is your suspension stock? Suspension / alignment is critical to understanding what will or will not fit on these cars.

Can you confirm whether the stock front spring perch is beside the wheel/tire or above? On a proper coilover setup, 8.5" +40 would be perfect without spacers front and rear. However, if the spring perch is beside the tire/wheel on the front, then you would need a spacer and there is likely no way you will fit the 8.5" up front.
Once you have established if they will bolt on, then you can look at rub. Those wheels are an aggressive fitment for sure, but you are picking a tire that is quite narrow (most people would run 225-235 on 8", 235-245 on 8.5", 245-255 on 9" though you can certainly run the 225 if you please) so that will help with the fitment. I think ultimately it is unlikely in my opinion that this will fit without some additional camber - rear you can simply add but front you would need at MINIMUM something like the Dinan fixed plates (and this is just a guess based on my wheels and tire fitment). I'm running 261M rear wheels on all 4 corners with 12 mm spacers on fronts with stock tires 245-35-18.
I purchased my car recently with 58k miles and as far as I can tell the suspension and fenders are stock. When I was checking to possibly going to 17" wheels for dedicated track set Tire Rack was recommending 17x8.5 wheel with 40 mm offset and 225-45-17 tires. That leads me to believe that this set up should easily fit on a stock car. For now I decided to stay with my run flat tires because I can't find good tire that is 245-35-18. All the "good" tires come in 245-40-18 or taller. Now I have decision to make, either purchase camber plates and use my current set up with taller wheel or purchase the 17" wheels and (cheaper) 235-40-17 tires. |

Yeah, for a 135i, 225 square is probably a bit narrow. The 8" version should work with a 245 with adequate front negative camber. Note I got -1.0 exactly with M3 arms, pin drilled, and stock M-Sport, so we're probably talking camber plates to get you enough clearance to go 245.
The Leggeras themselves are light, strong, look fantastic, and will make great track wheels for you IMO. The HLT tech straddles the line between cheap cast wheels and fancy forged wheels, weight and strength-wise. And 17" tires are so damn cheap. $450 for a full set of PSSs in 225/45/17. |
