Octane Boosters are useless! When you're running race fuel and/or methanol spray then I've recently been reminded it's a good idea to change up your plugs more regularly.

Well did my plugs today . Gawd there must be an easy way to remove the coils, but mine were determined to stay put. After much struggling and about 50ml of blood I managed to get them all done. Car is much smoother to drive, but I still have a slightly rough idle. Plugs have done 23000km. sstt.

Anyone in Bris needing plugs? I am going to order some tonight/tomorrow and shipping is same price for 6 and 12. They work out to be about $14 plus shipping which is about $15 for them all.

Also can you get me a price on a pair of bosch precat lambda sensors? (I think this may be the cause of my intermittent running rough at low throttle and occasional rough idling and more recent limps) Cheers Shane |

This thread takes me back I've changed out my lambda sensors in 1st bank too when I was trouble shooting through some problems. Turned out it wasn't the issue though. Labour was a sting!

Hmm I had a vanos related code a while ago, most recently it was pre cat lambda sensor.... These sensors supposedly have a life of 150k kays and im on 70k kays, with about 4k kays of that being tuned.... I'm thinking to replace all 6 plugs (they are only 12 months old but they are cheap) 6 coils which I believe is a DIY task and the pre cat sensors to see how it runs then... Knowing my luck it will be the injectors, but at least with the aforementioned items replaced it should eliminate some future issues |

The labour for the sensors ended up costing me the same as what DP install costs, so very expensive. I highly doubt it's your sensors and would leave this until the end. First step would be to change spark plugs and all of your coil packs. I know your car has only been tuned for 4k of the 70k, but there's still a good chance the previous owner had some kind of tune at some point. Could also be the injectors but I'd go with plugs/coils first. If you're on original plugs then it's most likely that. Also try resetting your lambda adaption settings. |

I highly doubt the previous owner ran a tune, he was no way mechanically minded and everything was to bmw oem specs and it was still under warranty being a bmw premium select vehicle. The plugs were changed at its last service which was almost 12 months ago and 5k kays, so they should be ok but then again you cant trust those bloody dealerships at times (just because they ticked sparked plugs in the service log doesnt mean they changed them!) I shall price up some coils and go from there I guess! Cheers |

I would go with coils first but plugs are fairly cheap if you want to change them out at the same time. |
