Largest tires on STOCK wheels? 235/265 on 7.5/8.5"?
Looking for advice/experience.
I did a few searches and didn't come across anything. What are the largest tires we should run on the stock 7.5"f 8.5"r wide 18" style m261 wheels? With the intention of aggressive/track use, with out potential unwanted sidewall flex/roll-over. I currently have Michelin Pilot Sport 2 in 225/40/18 & 255/35/18 and could easily fit the wider 235/265 setup even lowered, I'm just more wondering if they would be too wide to fit the 7.5"/8.5" wide wheels to the point its negligible/a hindrance. Thanks |

Don't bother going wider, no improvement in performance. There was no perceptible difference even going from the stock 215/245 on my car. A bit of stretch makes the tire more responsive and less sloppy.

I am heeding your advice. So you're saying there is no perceptible "difference", but with that aside, just to further reinforce my decision, are you also suggesting that the 235 is too wide for the 7.5" rim and the 265 for the 8.5" rim to make them "sloppy" (assuming meaning unwanted roll-over)?

Edit:
I do currently think my car plows a bit through corners with the current 225s up front but I guess I automatically attributed that to them being runflats. Would 215s feel more planted? |
