Noise while braking
Any of you guys experience a noise with moderate (not hard but slightly more than normal pressure) braking? Sounds like amplified tire noise or whine, that\'s the best way I can describe it. Almost like I have truck offroad tires mounted. I have about 600 miles so far.

Completely Normal with M Compound brakes. They are meant to be driven hard so if you constantly baby them, they develop a bit of a rumble. If you want it to go away, do a hard stop from around 30-40 mph.

No, lol. I know you're supposed to take it easy on the brakes for at least the first 200 miles or so, and so far I haven't had the need to hit them hard. I did some canyon roads but with the tight turns and having to share the road with cyclists and motorcycles, I didn't push the car or brakes too hard.

Thanks for the advice, good to know this is normal. Last M car I had was an E36, and those brakes were nothing compared to the massive 1M/M3 ones.

Also remember the vented rotors have alot to do with that noise..
there is alot going on down there... wait till you hit the track or really brake hard... youll think something is really wrong ( as compared to what you are used to ) but in reality it is very normal.. just air / venting gasses / hard compound friction etc etc...

Find an empty/closed road and bed the pads in properly. Get some heat into them 2-3 times and then (***when absolutely no cars are anywhere around) go from 40 or 50 mph to 0 very quickly and continue to stand on the pedal for 20-30 seconds after you come to a stop. Release and go have a beer.

Dan gave a much safer answer.... I do however prefer to do my brake bed-ins when the Peloton is right on my ass headed down a mountain road.
