Permaplate paint and leather protection ADVICE
Hey
While ordering my 325, the salesman described some protection packages for the car. My car is Jet Black so they thought I would really be interested in this (but I think they say that to everyone). The first is a Permaplate Paint Protection ($499) which offers: Teflon Coating, ultra violet sunscreen 7 year warranty The second is Permaplate Leatherette protection ($299) with a 7 year warranty in case of cracking. I can bundle both packages for $699 ($100 savings). Are these packages worth it? do they do anything ? Has anyone had them on their car?? Cheers |

Didn't you ever see the movie FARGO? You NEVER get the teflon coating!

There is no dealer installed coating that will last 7 years. Not one. Polish your car twice a year with Zaino, and keep the leatherette clean. One of the reasons people get leatherette is that it is more resistant to wear and tear, lack of maintenance, and abuse than leather. You can also get treatments for the leatherette (Vinylex, etc.) if you feel the need.
What dealer so generously offered you these packages? Could you please post their name in the dealer review section so that others will know what to expect when dealing with them? marcus, Great movie - LOL - "it comes from the factory that way..." |

here's the rule of thumb, if you don't see the actual thing that protects it (i.e. film), don't get it....they can just pour water over your car and u think it's a liquid solution. I tried it on my current car (paint sealent) but i found out that i just wasted over a hundred bucks in something totally useless. Just wax your car twice a year (before winter and after winter)....ur car will be just fine. if you want protection like what I'll do, add the 3m clear bra on your car.

leather won't crack unless you never condition it and bmw and other european brands use premium leather so no need to worry much about cracks as well. Just detail the car interior and exterior once or twice a year.
