I've had the same thought about an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. I can only imagine what insurance and maintenance would cost on it though.

Sooo sick of automatic transmission, probably a nice clean e46 or an AW 1M.

I've been lurking on this site for a while and I don't have a 135i....but, I'm fairly set on it being my next car (some variation of blue or gray with sport/cold, manual, etc.). I've currently got an '06 Mazdaspeed 6. I had an E46 prior to that, an Evo VIII before that, and an S14 240sx turbo prior to that.

My eyes are on a lightly used Cayman S 2009.

It's funny to me how similar most of our taste in cars goes. Tons of mentions of Porsche's if we have the money, if not we step down to Audis or Vettes or BMWs, if we step down another level we go down to Z/VW/Subara type cars. My last cars before my 135 were a Porsche 968 (still own), a Vette, and an Audi Cabriolet.
My guess is that I'll practically never sell my 135. But I will eventually need a new daily driver in 6 to 8 yrs. To keep me happy in the meantime I'll keep maintaining and eventually repaint and maybe replace the top on my 968. Hopefully the drivetrain holds up, it has 165k miles now. I'll take great care and gradually improve my 135 also. Cosmestically I did not bother with a clear bra etc so in a few yrs I'll have a good excuse to get side skirts, maybe an M version front bumper, a CF hood, and maybe M mirrors. I figure the junky subframe bushings, etc will even be junkier and need replacing. I"ll need new rotors, may as well make them lighter. But the biggest thing is I'll probably upgrade to Rob Beck type turbos at 80-100k. Hmm, that sounds so nice, maybe I'll just buy a truck to drive "daily" so I'll be able to drive my old 135 and old Porsche more.

Hmm...I'm less than a year away from getting my next car...if for some reason I keep my 11' 128i convertible.
If all things go according to plan I'll get a Blue Water Metallic 14' 135i or 135iS convertible with active steering, moonlight top, glacier trim and taupe interior. *(Really pissed about the taupe tho). Wish I could get grey boston interior again! Oyster is nicer, but the black door panels, armrest, carpet etc, etc Kills the look in my opinion with such a light color.

Holding out for a turbo BRZ. I love the current one, just not quite fast enough.

I definitely like the BRZ and would hold out for the turbo version too but I really fear having to wear Monster Energy swag when driving/going to car shows
I'm thinking a Cayman S would make a great next car...I'm going to have to do some convincing first though.....

Going to test drive the BRZ soon to see how it feels after spending a year with 1M. My intention is to keep the 1M forever, if such thing exists. But if I can't, then I will keep an eye on the next M2 naturally, also will dream about a Z2 M if BMW dares to build that car.
2013/14 Alfa 4C is in my very short wish list as well. Need to see production version first. If I go used my first choice would be a well kept E46 M3 CSL and second a Porsche Boxster Spyder.

must be 4 door and auto for the wife to be able to drive it, I hate the look of the new 3er and the rumored I6 in the next M3/M4 so I am thinking of C63 AMG or CTS-V.

no more RFT's
Next car will NOT have run-flats and WILL have room for a spare. So my next car will probably not be a BMW.
Too bad. Other than this issue I love my 135i. |

Turbo BRZ if they make one... Hands down.
I wanted a small, lightweight, powerful, easily modified for more power, RWD, manual transmission, somewhat practical, reasonably comfortable, drivable, with heated seats car for under about $35k. I didn't really want a "luxury brand" car but a 1 year old low miles used 135i was the best fit for me. It's only real flaw is being slightly portly for such a small car. Guess you pay for all the sound deadening, underbody panels, huge ass battery, and safety features in weight. I think Subaru would be very smart to slap a turbo and STI badge on the BRZ. Even if it is just 250-260hp range, the aftermarket will take care of it from there. Factory turbo engines are much better for modding due to the ability to increase airflow easily (by tuning or simple turbo swaps), and the more capable compression ratio.
