I'm very interested to see back to back dyno results with this Wagner piece and a cat less version. If the difference isn't too great this would be a great solution.

I don't know of a dyno (while it can be a good performance metric, it's not always a clear sign of what will give bigger power gains)

This is what I can say though, no CEL, no smell and the power gains should be roughly similar to a catless setup. Hit up Wagner for more info!

I don't see where he garuntee's no lights...right from the product page you linked us to:

"Made from 1.4301 (SS304) Stainless Steel 200cpi Catalytic Converter* 1:1 exchange to OEM Unit CAD designed *ECU may need to be coded to avoid engine management light"

"Oh, I need to take that out, I put that in just to be safe."

It has been removed because he does guarantee the no CEL light from the N55 race-catted DP.

Wouldn't guarantee no CEL's when that question was asked of them on the 1 Series forum in the UK.

I can't say for sure why that is, but that's what he has confirmed for me in person and by changing that by-line on their site. If you want you can ask them via email: info@wagner-tuning.de

Not sure if there's more info on using non-foulers, but it seems to work for N55's...this is the only thread I could find, anyone else this?

It was the guy from Wagner-Tuning UK that confirmed it, and the WT-UK website still has the caveat on the webiste saying 'may need ECU coding to avoid CEL issues'
http://www.wagner-tuning.co.uk/bmw-1...gine-102-p.asp

WT-UK were offering a VERY CHEAP offer to be the first in the UK to have one fitted by them on a 135, but the handful of those of us that were interested in doing so all baulked when they wouldn't guarantee no CEL.

As I said before, he confirmed the no CEL with me. I just sent him an email asking if there is any difference in the UK as far as CEL goes. I will let you know as soon as I find out.

That site has now been updated too. "*No ECU engine management light errors in testing to date." He guarantees the cells in the DP to last for 2 years. "We have customers now running almost 20000km on it. We offer a 2 year warranty." "There is no mileage limit within that 2 year warranty"

Thoughts?

Also, it looks like the OEM DP has 2 cats in it for the N55...the 2nd cat does not seem to be monitored. from pics it looks to be: turbo, primary O2, cat 1, secondary O2, cat 2. If I can find a stock dp, I may just drill out the 2nd cat...thoughts?

Very interesting. May wait until emissions time before I pull the trigger on any solution.

Yeah, we've concluded it doesn't work. It'll end up reading O2 is too rich. Quite the sensitive sensor.

Any update on the Wagner dp, any new users who can confirm whether or not they got a CEL?

Also has anyone considered using a defouler with a catted DP?

Might have some news on that in a few months time, as I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on the catted Wagner DP for my N55, as Birds (my local BMW indie tuner) is now a Wagner stockist, and literally only a few hours ago I put Wagner's number in my phone so as to be able to call them tomorrow.

So I take it Euro cars are subject to same emission standards? Because I always thought that the reason many e46 m3 owners purchase euro headers is because they were catless unlike the ones in the states.

So as of now we have no updates? Seems like we are still stuck removing DP before every test.

Yes.

Cats have been required fitting on all new cars since 1992 here in the UK, but, it was legal to de-cat, but the car still had to pass the emissions test every year, although, the first test doesn't occur until the car hits 3 years old. Most cars though couldn't pass the emissions test without a min of a race cat being fitted anyway.
However, as of this year, the car is now also visually inspected as well to look for the cat being in place, as well as emissions being tested.

So Im in the process of purchasing a dp and jb4, already have bms intake and always run 93oct. I'm in a county that doesn't require an emission test so real question is, is the cel on all the time even with autoclear "on" ?

Because if there's a DTC and no light I'm doing the dp, but if there's a ses light on at all time, I'm not doing that to my daily. Also, what is this idle issue ppl are having at stops? Is it all the time? Just a few concerns im having before spending the money, time, and effort.

I'm a noob to the forum so thanks everyone.
