Final settings will be discussed tomorrow with the shop. The depos do not come with the auto leveling feature, but you can manually adjust them from the backing. |

Cool man. Check back this week for the release. Plus since you are in socal you can save on shipping. You can either come to the shop to have them installed, or I can take them to you. I may be doing socal drop off just to get to meet the customers

If you take a look at realoem.com you can see the rheostat wheel for the manual leveling on the European headlight switch. |

The auto-leveling only comes on the HID-equipped cars. The manual leveling is only found on European halogen-equipped cars. U.S. halogen cars get no love. Though, I wouldn't be completely surprised if the early cars are pre-wired since there aren't additional parts needed (i.e., additional modules, sensors, etc. like the auto-leveling requires). Anyway, I'll probably have a peek at my footwell module to see if the connection is there.

Auto-leveling, as found on the cars factory-equipped with HIDs, has two sensors that monitor the position of the suspension and dynamically change the vertical aim of the headlights according to the position of the two sensors. The European halogen-equipped cars have a manual leveling system whereby the driver can rotate a scroll wheel built-in to the headlight switch to manually alter the vertical aim of the headlights.

So would this be considered the "Adaptive" headlights that BMW offers with Xenon? ie: (turning when you turn, keeping on the road etc..?)

As you pointed out, the adaptive headlights are the ones that turn. The Depos, if retrofitted with the internal motors, are compatible with the manual leveling system that halogen-equipped European cars come with standard. The adaptive feature of the current crop of OE HIDs is separate and not something that can be retrofitted to the Depo lights AFAIK.

Update Related to DRL:
I confirmed that this cannot be done for the Angel Eyes within the depo housings, but it can be done through tapping into certain wires in the engine bay as explained earlier by aw128i I believe? We will however be making mine like that so we can give detailed instructions on how to do so. Final prices will go up tonight |

sorry my knowledge of all the acronyms on this forum is lacking so to speak...
So if I am understanding you correctly there IS a way to re-wire the DEPOs outside of the units in the main area to allow the DRLs to run alongside that of the Angels? Seeing as you are getting this done tomorrow would you let us know how easy of a job it would be to re-wire that configuration? |
