There is something that is just so smooth and refined about a 3 series that doesn't really come through in the 135is. However, what it lacks in that area, it more than makes up for in slapping a smile on your face.

For you, the biggest difference might be the N55. I can't speak to that as I am not very experienced with the tuned N54s. I will be curious to hear how your Dinan tune goes on top of the 135is. I had inquired with them about a tune in January and they told me it was not available yet. Please update this thread with info. For me, I'm not really considering it anymore, as the stock car has more power than I'll ever need or use.

In any event, we want lots of pics when the car arrives! I think we are up to three CB 135is's on 1addicts now.
Thanks. I called Dinan directly and talked to the guy who helped me with the e90 tune. He said the tune for the 135is is ready to go.

In the current crop of BMWs, it is the driver's car of the bunch and at a price much more obtainable than an M3. Keep us posted!
Thanks. Yeah, I'll post some impressions after I have the 135is for a few weeks. Also, after I get the Dinan S2 tune.

Honestly for me it's the 313s and the exhaust. The extra power will be nice (though I've never driven an is... maybe my opinion will change), but every other 135i I've driven has been plenty fast for me!

For me, it was the 313s and some of the other cosmetic things (black grille slats, black side mirrors). The performance upgrades weren't that important and I wouldn't have gotten the PPK or exhaust otherwise, but with the deals to be had, and pricing of the entire "is" package, I basically got all the performance upgrades for freeeeeee!

I e-mailed Dinan in January and was told the S2 would be available in July. I just e-mailed Dinan, again. I went on their site just now, and it does not appear for the 135is, yet. I am interested in getting it. I do want more torque! I was contacted by a Western Region rep, as I live in California.

It's usually the first thing I do to a car. That way the only people that know what it is, are the people that already know what it is.

Thanks for the prompt guys, had been considering the same. I did a search and found the above thread on debadging, seems pretty straightforward.

While I understand the desire to have the clean look on the back, my only concern/reservation with debadging is that typically it seems most the people who do it are people who get the lowest models but don't want people to know. Granted, I'm sure you guys will say who cares what other people think, but at least in my mind (could just be an LA thing), debadging comes with that stigma, whether true or not. I've also seen way too many debadging + a nice crooked M in its place, so I may have a warped sense on this.

I will say though that seeing "135is" on the back has always looked weird and long and awkard to me.

I've done it probably 6 or 7 times. I didn't click the link, but it's incredible easy. Use some waxed dental floss to "saw" through the foam tape on the letters. Then just use your thumb to rub the rest of the tape off. A nice squirt of goo-gone or something similar. Wipe the rest of the tape residue off with a soft cloth. Then some non-abrasive polish and a soft cloth. Depending on how old you car is, you may have to do the last step several times. Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes and you'll never know they were there.

Just read the thread. I can find no reason for a hair dryer. And I've debadged in the bitter cold....

I've debadged a 2 335i's, 335is (friends car), 128i, 135is, and my recently traded M3. I like the clean look and really couldn't give a shit about "image". If someone wants to assume I'm driving a 128i, then so be it.

Vanity will be the end of the empire.

Ya, I assumed the answer was going to be who gives a crap what others think. =P

Interesting on the 335is debadging - you take off the ones on the side, too just behind the front wheels? I'm glad they didn't put those on the 135is, though I do wish the 135is had the special gray gauges on it like they did on the 335is.

Wasn't trying to jump on your shit.

No, it's my friends 335is, and he decided the ones on the side were subtle and didn't interfere with the lines. The side markers on the M3 stayed on too. Very small and subtle.

I agree, the nicer gauges would have been nice. Oh well. Would also like to see some "real" paddle shifters too.

CptSlow,

Thanks for the insights! Any insights on removing the interior 135is badge, same process?

I have no experience with the interior badging. I would assume its also double sided foam tape, but can't really help more than that.
