I read somewhere that you can not buy the BMW extended warranty but if they try to sell it to me, I might just do it..

Interesting. Does Dinan then offer some kind of supplemental/extended warranty then after year 4? That's my only real concern about going Dinan since I know BMW then won't CPO it and if they won't also sell you their ripoff extended warranty, that may impact my decision down the road as well.

We should have Rick ask Enthusiast Auto in the next day or two as they're a Dinan dealer and would know the answer. Or I guess you can ask when you go back to pick up your car, though my sense is you'll want to not talk once you get there and just jump in and drive the hell out of it.

Absolutely. This area (Union County) is pretty terrible for good roads - we'd have to go West on 78 for 30 miles or so to find something suitable.

That is a funny thread. Everyone just wants to argue for some reason.

Regarding Dinan, I'm interested to see what you find with your car. I had a not so great experience with them with my '05 MCS (Dinan S1 - badge and carpets and all). But I'm sure the MINI department isn't quite as focused as the BMW department is over there at Dinan.

Just read that thread. Thanks for the entertaining read! As an innocent bystander, I would argue that your thread and subsequent posts weren't "wise ass" in the least. I value the input, regardless of how long it will take you to report back.

Yep. Not sure why

But I like this quote, "...dont let bmw frighten you into paying for an overpriced tune." IMO, who cares if it's "overpriced" if that's what you want and you can afford to do it? Besides, "overpriced" is simply an opinion anyway.

I'm not frightened. You have to pay to play. I love it when those silly kids post stupid threads about how something broke, funny codes and removing tunes, etc.... it happens all the time and way too much. Listen, if you modify the car beyond it's original design specifications. Something is going to break and why would BMW warranty it? You used the part beyond the design specs and now it broke. So now they want to cheat the system. WTF?

Now that I think about it. I am the type of person that pays for a service. In this case a tune and subsequent related gadgets but I want to retain the right to bring the car somewhere when it needs to be repaired. Most of the piggy box boys like to tinker with their car. Right now, I truly do not want to tinker with anything. I want to get in and go. The pure essence of a daily driver.

I guess that is where the argument stands. Paying for a Service or a DIY (do it yourself) weekend warrior type but let me tell you how fiesty those DIY's are. IMHO, I think are just plain dumb when they argue. Whatevers... sorry for my rant.. lol

Set it up! We should do a monthly meet to drive on those twistys! Saturday mornings is best for me!

I think it would be fun!

I dunno, was it me?

Not sure what your point is. I wasn't critiquing your choice for buying any bling mod. I was merely commenting fitment might be an issue for the [oem] carbon fiber brace. In your post didn't say it was a Dinan strut bar and I know the oe piece is YMMV for N55.

Luckily I can clear it all up for everyone. Months ago you had noticed and asked owen2001 why his calipers were yellow when yours were gray and I reckon that was the extent of the conversation.

As for the dinan strut bar, it's nothing like that BMW Performance one. It's a unique and unusual looking one which I haven't seen installed on any cars. It looks thin and tubular. Here's a visual which should put everyone on the same page:

I can't wait for you to get your car back and post some driving impressions of the Stage 3package!!! We need photos of all the eye candy bits as well!

As Greg mentioned, my car is in the shop for front bumper replacement, which just happens to be the local Dinan dealer as well. I plan to stop by tomorrow to check up on the work and will ask them specifically whether or not BMW will offer an extended warranty. I know they have a relationship with the local BMW dealer, although I'm not sure how chummy it is.

Agreed on a tristate gtg, although I still think we should do a hpde

Just ordered few more mods: 1M strut brace, M3 TRW control arms (currently on sale, lowest price I've ever seen at $300 shipped), and dash camera.

Dash can is very cool, has GPS, wifi and can even record while car is parked. Picked up M3 arms because I'm determined I've bent my current left side from a long winter of pothole abuse, may as well get some camber out of this! Will post pics of install, probably tackle in next 2 weeks.

Going down to Summit Point this Friday & Saturday. Next event will most likely be in May at Lime Rock in CT, either the 9th with Loose Nut Motorsports or 10th with CCA.

Hey 6MT guys,

Do you guys hear a squeaking from your clutch pedal if you depress it about 2 inches or so (not all the way in) then let it out? Mine squeaks as I let off the pedal in that situation. It doesn't squeak if I'm just letting the pedal out normally after engaging the clutch all the way.

Lube the plastic bushing or whatever you want to call it by the pivot point.

Cool, I'll mention it to the techs at the dealer tomorrow, since they're gonna have a look at my brake pedal anyhow. I'll let you guys know what they say about my waste gate...I have a feeling they're going to try to tell me its just the exhaust flap.

So you now have two squeaky pedals? and rocks in the exhaust?

Only weird thing I've had is a USB/flash drive issue yesterday where my music would keep freezing after 15 seconds, then just stop, crap out the system, and it would then for some reason go to the first FM station. I reformatted the flash drive, put the music back on and it's working today, in case anyone ends up having anything similar.

Happens to me all the time with my iPhone plugged into the USB port. I chalk it up to the old, shitty API for iPod+music integration.

Okay, makes me feel a lil better. First time I've had an issue in the year I've been listening to my music through it. I could just upload all my music to the car's hard drive, but I hate playing it that way cause none of the album art shows. You just get the 1 line on the playlist as opposed to the full screen. Don't know why I like how it looks with the album art up and info when the music plays. Needless to say, I doubt any of us bought the car for its tech.

Totally, I dont even have the nav/tech - so no screen for me. Definitely some flaky issues playing my iPhone through the USB. Works enough that it's not a huge deal to me. Plus the nice weather is here, so I've been driving with the windows down listening to our wonderful PE.
