Rubbing or no?

I know I've seen the answer somewhere but couldn't find it on search.

I know for the rear anything more then 245 with rub.. but what about the front.. stocks are 225 and I got summers that are 225/35/19 right now but was thinking next year of getting 235/35/19 for the fronts.. will I rub (btw I want to know for stock height and lowered)..

So whom ever has 235's in the front if you can chim in that would be great thanks.

Can I ask what wheels are you running?

Sounds like your associating mainly tire size with rubbing. Actually the bigger factors are wheel offset, wheel size(mainly width), suspension lowering, camber, etc.

Most here who are pushing the rubbing limits front and rear are running 8.5" width front wheels with offsets around 40-45, many with 18's and 19's, one or two with 20's. With a setup in that range you should be able to run 235's and maybe even 245's without rubbing much if unlowered. Lowered, most are running 225's if lowered and not rubbing. To get 235's or greater to work properly if lowered you might have to use some camber, which would help with understeer anyways. But if you camber too much or if your offset is 40 or lower then you might rub the strut.

It's really a complex mix of many factors, including the big fact that many tire brands are much wider shouldered than others.

My offset is 8.0" in the front.. and my rears are 9.5" so I had to roll my fenders but was wondering if 235s are good for the front... I've seen people do it but dont know if it rubs. When you say camber do I need a camber kit?

No one can tell you for sure if you'll rub and what you'll need until we know more info. We need to know the offset of the wheels, for example my fronts are 19x8.5 et43.

The other issue is 235 width tires are a little wide for 8"wide wheels so your front tires will look wide for the wheels whereas your 245 on 9.5" rears will look stretched so it will look sort of funny.

Just double checked and I think it is:

Front - 19x8.5 40 Offset
Rear - 19x9.5 30 Offset

Exactly the same as the CSL VMR's out there..

Don't exactly keep record of the offsets now that they have been on my car for a while but might be needing new tires next year so looking at options again.

The wheel-tire size comparer is our friend.

http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs...&text1=&text2=

and I would say those offsets are very low so my guess is you'll have to stick with narrow tires.

If that is really your offset up front then you will be fine with 235's. Add some negative camber and you will be able to fit more.
