New Windshield and rain/water
I recently changed my windshield. The new one is exactly the same as the first one, it was installed in a BMW dealer and is 100% original.
The only difference I find is that the first one seemed to have some sort of water repealing treatment which made that water "slipped" easily and, when using the wipers, it didnt leave any mark. Should I clean the outside of the windshield with alcohol just to make sure it has nothing to do with cleaning or the "replacement" windshields lack that water repealing treatment Im talking about? Thoughts? |

If you bought it used it possible the previous owner had a coating/sealant on the glass. I use a sealant on mine and its lasted a long time.

That's about how much it costs in Germany ~1,400 euros, for everything new, new seals, new rain sensor, glue, etc. I'm on my third windshield over here. There must be something weird about the e82's windshield's angle or something. Luckily my insurance covers windshield glass.

Just got a new windshield myself a couple weeks ago. It cost $410 USD for the BMW windshield and trim plus $140 to have it installed. Rainwater runs off exactly like the old one.
By the way, the installer was able to reuse the existing rain sensor and cabin moisture sensor with no trouble.
