'New' eBay Front Lips
I thought I'd have a look, as I do once in a while and two 'new' styles have popped up that I thought I'd bring to your attention.
1. First up, a Vorsteiner copy I believe, isn't it? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MCF-BMW-E8...item3ccdbb2d2f 2. Next up, Louiellp has had a go and making their own. I've never seen this style before; kind of looks like iCarbon crossbread with something else. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/08-10-BMW-...item1c1fd48b34 3. There's also this. The picture is bad but it kind of looks like Hamman mated with Slek; as in the middle part appears to meet with the bumper as does Slek, it stick forward as does Slek however, it has small fins at the side as does Hamman. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/07-11-BMW-...item2a22890ed5 Edit: actually on the last one forget my comment, it's just a cr@p photo showing a cr@p Hamman copy. |

Damn, I can never believe how much these things go for. It maybe costs them $50 to make, and then they sell for 10x the profit.
The first one isn't to my liking, but I would be interested in seeing the second on a car... |

With most CF products the price of the product is not simply reflected in the cost of raw materials. People have to take into account r&d, molds, business overhead, marketing, etc. Rep's are often far cheaper than authentic products because they skip the R&D as they just copy an existing design.

The second one is a Hartge style only done in CF. I've seen that one around for a while sold by an Asian mfg (check out jcsportline). I don't think I've ever seen it on an actual car-

I kinda like the 3rd one, maybe I'll drop the $200 on it and report back regarding its fitment and such.
I mean I'd rather that then taping $1000 to the front of my car and have it fall off. |

First one is the Vorsteiner front lip that never got released since they only made a few of them and wanted to price it way to high. They either got ahold of one of the ones made and replicated it or some how acquired the original mold.

Might be important to note, it looks like that third polyurethane one is made for the 128i bumper. I doubt it will fit the M-sport front, but it might fit the performance aero bumper. Of course with a dremel tool and a steady hand anything is possible. Go for it.

Or they just guessed considering the photos are of the actual lip. Meaning, god only knows what their cheap ass knockoff is going to end up being.

I'd be highly concerned about the weave looking terrible on any ebay cf lip. That and I don't think i could buy the second one based solely on the spelling and grammar used in the description.

I'd be very interested in the Vorsteiner lip, but 95% feedback from only 50 transactions tells me he's (the seller) had a few complaints.
Edit: actually he seems to only have had 1 negative feedback in the last 12 months. If someone wants to be the guinea pig ill jump in second haha Last edited by Insightt47; 01-20-2013 at 10:02 PM.. |

The first one pictured is a real Vorsteiner. That is my shops car, the Ebay site just stole the pictures straight off their website. I'd be extremely cautious of ordering that first one if they are picturing the real deal when it obviously isn't (Vorsteiner never put it into production).

You missed another 'new' lip.
MCF BMW E82 1-Series B1 Style Carbon Front Lip http://bit.ly/Xu9Eq8 Appears to be from the same company that does the Vorsteiner replica but this one is an iCarbon replica.
