Great vid John!!!! I learned a lot from that video...like the o-rings and washer come with the filter and there is a nice little trap door to drain the oil. I was worried you would have to remove a large section, plus it is easy to remove the filter and not have oil all over. There is no way I am paying $130 now when the parts are only like $60!!!
PS. You have to love the big bag of yellow Costco Micro towels!!! Thanks.

Great video...but did you just get underneath the car with just jacks supporting it? I didn't spot any jack stands. Just want to throw it out there but use some jack stands!! Don't want to see anyone here as another statistic :wink:

No, I removed the drain plug and let the oil start to drain, then I moved up to the filter. I left the drain plug out during the filter change. After the new filter was installed, I replaced the drain plug with new crush washer.:biggrin:

I found on another forum to torque the drain plug to 25nm. Not sure if this is correct. When I removed the drain plug it came off very easy...surprisingly easy:biggrin:. I tightened it to a snug fit and just gave a little extra turn, this is how I've done all my cars for years, never had an issue.

However, I had no damage to the jack point on the car. I suppose using some wood would work also. The bad thing, is there is not a whole lot of clearance between the jack point on the car and the jack when its completly lowered. Cheers...:headbang: |
