Why OEM Wheels
i start to notice that many 1m's owner stays with their OEM 359M Wheels painted or even in the original colour, i must admit that it is good.
but sometimes it gave me confusion and doubts for changing into aftermarket wheels since a lot of you guys stay with original. but here in indonesian, m owners really ball hard, they go with adv's, and it will be rare to see M's without aftermarket wheels. and i will feel naked if i stay with the original wheels. (i haven't even got my 1m yet, its coming probably next week. used [only 1000km on the odometer] since all of the new ones in the dealership are sold out) .. |

Personally i really like the look of the oem wheels and would only change them if i was donated a free set of bbs deep dish alloys that weighed less than oem.
Its not likely to happen hence why i had one of my sets painted. What wheels do you think look better and weigh less than standard? cheers jamie |

O.Z. Superforgiata in black, light grey or silver; forged, incredibly light and looks both different and good imo, if you don't want something looking almost equal to OE wheels which are pretty, these may be a quality option.
Here, in light grey, you can check details, price and other color finishes: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand Or pay even more and be the first (that I know) who puts HRE's gorgeous S-101 wheels on a 1M, a vendor is selling them in the vendors section of this Forum.

For me the oem is spot on and just do the job, mind you, many of those that have changed, have gone for a BBS that is more or less same or similar in style to the oem. Says it all really......
No plans of changing myself, just sorted the finish in a hyper black. |

Well on the contrary: keep the OEM rims and you'll be special, because, as you indicate, these are a rare sight.

OEM 359Ms are bomb ass wheels. they look perfect on the car imho. the only con is they are heavy.

What's more important to you - standing out or being happy you have a great car? I know what it's like in South East Asia, cars like these are massive status symbols. If you do decide to swap wheels, avoid ADV.1. They have a very bad rep with regards to wheel construction quality. Google ADV.1 quality/issues/cracked etc. |

Love the oem wheels. IMO these are the best oem wheel ever.
The only thing I wish is a slightly more aggressive offset. If anything , I'll refinish them in a year or two in maybe a light gunmetal / gray to keep the look fresh. |

But even a good wheel (E46 M3 CSL wheel or a replica ?) is not safe from harm if the wheel nuts are not properly fastened.
See from 00:27 onwards (May 2012 - Spa-Francorchamps circuit):

I love the 1M OEM wheels. IMO the best OEM wheels ever on a new BMW.. Why change them. Most Aftermarket equipment isn't as good as OEM. Many wheels are quite cheap and not as strong for heavy duty use. BBS makes BMW wheels and are among the best wheels available.

and i would recommend running a better tire than that. those are some pretty average tires at best, and this car deserves something better than that! bridgestone SO4, michelin PSS, and my favorite bridgestone re-11 are a much better match to this car so you can really see what the chassis / motor can do
