Have a look at this post: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=409293

Still researching this myself, so I can't recommend anything.

Engine oil: Any oil that carries a LL-1 rating.
6MT trans: BMW MTF-LT-4 or equivalent.
Diff: Castrol SAF-XJ 75w140 GL5

I suspect that the has been replaced by MTF-LT-5 (what the 1M and N55 trans uses).

For my engine I use German Castrol Edge FST, 0w40 LL-1.
For my manual trans I use Redline synthetic ATF-D4, athough you can also use ATF-D6 (which is slightly thinner oil).
For my Diff I use Redline 75w140. Some people even use Redline MTL in their diff or or 75w90 synthetic diff/gear oil.

I used MTL in my manual transmission and 75W90 in the rear end, both from Red Line. MTL is thicker than automatic transmission fluid but it doesn't get very cold here and I used to manuals shifting a little different until they warm up. I don't really notice much difference with temperature with the MTL but I probably would in NY. My bimmer is also garaged.

If you are willing to put up with the shifter moving sluggishly for a few miles, I think MTL is a valid choice for the manual. Using 75W140 for the rear end may make a lot of sense. I didn't realize it has virutally no lube in it (on the order of a pint). That could let the lube run pretty hot making something that doesn't thin out to badly indicated.
