New Camera & Dirty Car
I picked up a new camera yesterday and need to practice using the thing..
What better subject than a 135. It has rained for the past 8 days here in PDX, so please forgive the semi-dirty car. I think I need to play with the exposure setting... A few of my pictures seem a bit "washed". They were shot in raw mode and other than the jpeg conversion haven't been touched. If anyone has any pointers, let me know.

nice pics, i actually like the "used look" the car looks like it's being driven like it should. the color in the first photo is unique, which is why i really like the sedona. so many different colors come out with different light.

Anyway, thanks for those GREAT pics, and you are obviously off to a talented start with your shiny new digital camera. It reminds me that I still need to get one soon.

I've taken quite a few pictures of the car and not a single one looks like the same color. If you're "on the fence" about SLR or Point and Shoot, I'd really recommend trying out a SLR. Initially I thought that it'd be way over my head, but read the manual and give it a try, it makes taking photos fun. Definitely off topic, but I just snapped this, playing around with aperture.

the slr's have huge learning curve, but in the end (which i haven't found yet) some amazing pictures can be had. i suggest joining a nikon/photography message board, i learned a ton of stuff from the canon forums floating around the net.
rockstar can shot with a canon 30d and 85mm f1.2L

I agree, once you are proficient with the camera it can be amazing. I also feel like right out of the box a lot of the entry-level slr's take better pictures in "auto" mode than most point and shoot cameras. Under those circumstances you are not using the camera to its fullest potential.

What kind of camera is it? If its a DSLR, never use auto. Learn to use the manual settings. On my Nikon D80 I bump up the sharpness and saturation of a less washed out look.
Or if you dont want to hassle with settings on a DSLR then upload the pics to your computer and then open it up in photoshop or lightroom and change the settings/ contrast there. |

Tips? A tripod and Photoshop can make for very high quality pics.

Thanks Everyone,
Tripod, yea, I need to get one, I just feel like a geek when I use it in a public setting.... I've been converting the photos with Apple's Aperture program and it has some post processing adjustments(not as sophisticated as photoshop) that I might try out.
