First time rim selection...

Well, I've been shopping around for some new rims for a while, and it's about time for some new tires so I might as well get them now. I'm sure we all know how big of a commitment it is, (I felt less nervous proposing to my fiancé), so I want to get it right especially since I've never purchased aftermarket rims before. The question is, does anybody have a 1er with full black, or black with lip rims on it and if so, could you attach a pic? Also, I'm really a favor of these attached Advanti B2 Denaro's. I really like the unique notched lip, but wanted some opinion on if it would look tacky? Also, I really want the new center cap to be a BMW cap, not Advanti... Is that possible?

Thank you!

everyone has their own tastes--you need to get what you feel will look good and not worry. No matter what you get, someone will love it and someone will hate it. You see the car the most and you should be satisfied with the purchase way before anyone else's opinion matters.

Those wheels leave a JDM feel because of the large openings in between the spokes, it lets a lot of visibility into the caliper/rotor set up. If you get those wheels, a nice caliper paint (or powder coat job) and some fresh rotors will make them look even better. Google search images for "1 series black wheels" and you should get a lot of results around what you're asking.

As far as the center cap goes, it depends on the size the Avanti ones are. I believe the stock BMW ones are 70mm, so they'll fit if that's what the Avanti's are.

There's a tun of people with black wheels on their 1ers. I'd almost say the majority of people here. So many have black wheels which is why I don't lol. I love that they are a 5 star pattern. I prefer that over the cross spokes everyone gets. I'd just say maybe do em in a gunmetal not black but that's jus my personal taste. As long as the center cap is the same size as the BMW cap it should work if not you may have to have some special ones made or ordered

my advice on choosing wheels is to take your time and look at what people already have. Decide what you like and what you don't like and make a decision. There are many wheels that i like, but i don't like them on a 1er. Hope this helps and good luck

When you see the right wheels, you will know.

Why don't you go with the BMW 313 lighter wheels?

I agree completely! Luckily, I already have stoptech drilled and slotted rotors, and I have sprang from the MGP custom caliper covers. I got them to paint the caliper covers in real Dakar Yellow II and in the center of each it says "BMW" in black lettering. That's the main reason why I think these rims would look so good, is because the open space would compliment the nice looks of the brake assembly.

Thank you!

I do love the gunmetal look as well, but I have an idea on the way back burner for the distant future. If I ever need paint work, I'll probably get the 1er redone in a matte black metallic, similar to the ones used on the newer M's at the dealer. I don't think the gunmetal goes well with black, but that's just my opinion.

Thank you!

I like the black with machined lip style, I just haven't been a fan of the 99% of them that have the spokes sunk into the center and leaving that tubular machined lip. Looks to flashy for my taste, but a lot of people love the look of riding on an 18"d chrome water pipe! Lol
The reason I'm really liking these rims is because full black looks dirty all the time and the small chrome notched lip should give it a clean sporty look.

I think I just convinced myself to get these...

get custom, forged, 2 or 3 piece wheels, preferably 3. don't get CSL reps or paint your stock wheels black. don't get any black wheels and don't paint or plasti-dip them black. expect to spend a lot. don't expect to stand out if you get a tirerack brand (no offense to tirerack in any way).
