Brake Dust / Wheel Polish
Hi All
Is there any type of wheel polish you can use to protect against brake dust sticking or make it come off easier? I remember seeing an add somewhere but not sure if this stuff works. At the moment i just use the Meguiars wheel cleaner Thanks Greg |

The topic has been covered a number of times in detail. So the short answer is ArmorAll Wheel Protectant works a treat andonly costs about $10 per can. I find the can lasts about 4 washes and protects against dust very, very effectively.

A few months ago Taymaishu recommended and spoke very highly about a ArmorAll product called "Wheel Protectant" for repelling brake/road dust and grime. I figured what have I got to loose, so I went out and bought a can to try it.
Wow it works fantastic, so I have purchased another 2 cans since then and apply it straight after I wash and dry the car. Thanks to Taymaishu.

But great to hear it's working. I gave the car a going-over 3 weeks ago and applied the ArmorAll Wheel Protectant after it was all dry. Wheels still look new! EDIT: A direct link to that post for the OP: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...light=armorall |

At the risk of blowing my own trumpet, looks like the same old questions keep coming up:

Thanks to Alex, my wheels are more or less brake dust free! Thing works a wonder and i go through a can every 2 or so washes, worth every penny!
I also use SwissVax AutoBahn wheel wax as well, just to keep a wet look shine and protect the wheels. |

I went through a labourious process but was well worth it.
Washed, clay bar, Swiss vax cleaner fluid, and finally swissvax concorso. Although may sound a bit extreme/expensive I find that all I need to do is a simple wash once weekly and EVERYTHING comes off. Not a mark remains on the wheels and it's been like that for at least 6 months. It is only due for another application now. So although the wheels still get dirty when I wash them they are like brand new again with little effort. |

but if your rims are clean, you don't have an excuse to wash the car again.
thanks for the tip ladies, looks like a trip to supercheap is needed.

Re wheels... A friend suggested a cleaner pad called Brightshine which comes already with the chemical already soaked in it. Will look into and report back. It's meant to work well for brake dust that has started caking onto the clearcoat on the wheels. Trev |
