xi wheel package??

I am awaiting delivery of my 325xi in october and am a little confused as to the wheel/tire package it will come with. What the dealer told me and what the internet says are two different things. And since its already on a boat making its way to Jersey I'm not sure what I can do?

I was told that since I have the Sport package, it will come with the 161 style with rears wider than fronts. Online it says 159 style and width is the same for front and rear.

A friend of mine mentioned that they had Pirelli's instead of bridgestone, but my dealer informed me that bridgestone makes the best runflats out there? I'd prefer the Pirelli's!

It comes with the 159's all-seasons all 4 same size 17's if you got the SP. It comes with the 161's only if you paid for the upgraded wheel/tire package. On the 161's you get the front and back as different sizes.

No Nikki, if you get the SP and also pay for the upgraded tire/wheel package then you get the offset peformance tires too. It's a new option that they just started offering on the Xi's this MY.

That doesn't seem right, i thought that usually FWD and RWD cars are the only ones that have a staggered setup because for an awd it is stress on the drivetrain.

just some opinions i've found:

Quote:
Your AWD car will understeer pretty bad with a staggered setup IMO.

And as far as damage goes, I don't really see what could happen, except for maybe stressing your center diff with the constant difference in traction.
Quote:
You simply connot stagger the tires as on an AWD you need to keep in mind that the car then would be dealing with slightly different overall diameters:

225/45-17 25.0"
245/40-17R 24.7"

Which in doing so will be creating a very real likelihood of transfer case damage due to turnig the wheels at different revolutions per mile, and the dealer will most definitley not cover your transfer case rebuild at 18k miles because of the fact you changed the wheels & caused the problem.

if you would like more info, just search google for "staggered awd"

Exactly that's what people think, but apparently maybe with their new X-drive technology and the way it's suppose to be RWD until the cars feels it's slipping that the diff. sizes tires will work.

I don't know if you still have the pricing pdf or you can check it on the sticky post here, but it's the 3rd and 4th lines of the options list. Option codes 2BG = 325xi and 2AB = 330xi.

well i guess if it's an option then they think it's ok, i'm just going based on my prior knowledge and what i've heard others say.

I'm a little pissed!
I think that I'm going to re-order witht he $300 option upgrade and I'm going to have to wait for another 1month +?? But I'm going to try to not pay for it.
man this sucks.
I might as well try to get the comfort access thrown in for their error? Never know?

shuz, i am in the same position as u. 325xi with sp but i am doing ed with pickup date 10/10 in munich. i already knew first hand i would be getting 159. however, i want to upgrade to 161 wheels. my dealer didn't have the prices for those yet when i asked him. is the upgrade from 159 to 161 only $300? wow, seems like a steal to me. is it too late to upgrade to 161 since my car is already built? thanks

I'm reordering tomorrow. There isn't much you can do since yours is already built. Yes its only $300 -thats why i'm going to suck up the extra 1.5 months of waiting.

Let me know how the ED goes. I was thinking about doing it myself but if i go with my wife i thought it was going to be an expensive vacation.

peace.
