Angry Someone backed into my car AND someone else put a ding in it!! urghgrgrgrr *$*%$$@

...and it all happened during one evening!! i went out to a bar on saturday and parked at a parking lot far away from all other cars around me. when i came back, my ultimate nightmare just became a reality. some drunk asshole must have backed into my car leaving significant paint damage along with some deformations on my front bumper.  and if that wasn't enough, after i went through a mild heart attack, my girlfriend told me there is a ding with chipped paint on the passenger door!!!

either those people were simply piss drunk, or they didn't like the fact there was a BMW parked next and in front of their Ford and Chevy.

as always, i wrote the license plate numbers down before i went to the bar, but since the damage is insignificant to the authorities, they're pretty much useless to me now.

any advice on how to properly take care of this (touch up products, paint-care products, etc, etc) would be much appreciated!

sorry for the pics, it was dark and rainy.

Ouch indeed! That's second such story I've heard today. Someone backed into my neighbours' Golf R32. Although in his case he was around when it happened.

Hopefully it can be repaired without too much fuss! Good luck!

That's horrible! There are alot of jealous ppl out there - but I suppose it could have been an accident also.

From the looks of it - you can probably buy touch up paint and DIY. You'll need sandpaper and the touchup paint to get it right... in the DIY section there may be a step-step tutorial.

Take it to a body shop and get it done right. If you attempt this...it most likely will NOT be perfect and you will always know it's there. If it was easy to fix, the body shop would not charge as much as they do....besides, you can take it back until they get it to your satisfaction. I would definatly take it an get an estimate...cost nothing, and you'll get the real story on the damage..

P.S. I had someone back into my 930 and cave the door in. If I'd caught him, I'd have run him over. My wife was hoping I never found out who it was....I never did.   It SUCKS!

I am sorry to hear about that but I would definatly take it to a body shop to get an estimate... The bumper looks to have been deformed not just scratched and just touch up painting it will not get the bumper back to being sleek and smooth.

The dealership would have it. But most ppl are right - take it to a body shop.

Put your front license plate on to cover it. Simple.

For the higher area, use the touch up pen

yes, it is deformed. when i go over it with my fingers, i can definitely tell it's not what it was before. i'm just afraid the body shop will have to take the whole front apart and do some crazy procedures with it for which they'll charge me some outrageous amount of money.

i only had one beer that night. that must be the most expensive glass of beer i've ever bought!

My motto now, "go home now and put the car in the garage"

Since I go the E90, I hate leaving it in the parking lot. I'm alot like you, I would park any of my car at the very last stall in a stadium size parking lot in a hurrican size rain. However empty the lot is, some shitheads with a 70's vintage big swinging doors coupe always manage/like to park it right up next to you.

The bumper cover is a biggie, you most likely have to replace it to have it right. Have you check the panels alignments? Sometime, if the hit is sharp, it might bend something. One time, a car rolled into my wifes E34 in the rear and it was $3k damage b/c there was structural damage.

As with the door ding, find a local paintless dent remover guy. THese guys tour around the towns dealership and fix their trade ins. My local PDR guy is excellent, twice he removed dents that were creased, and more than 2" in diameter. I was duely inpressed with the repair. Cost is usually $40 to 80 depending on the complexity.

thanks! i'll call my dealership about the dent, i've never heard of such a guy that goes around and fixes stuff. i have to give it a try. especially if we're only talking below $100 for the repair.

the funny thing is, that when i go over the damage with my fingers, the places where the paint is scratched actually sticks out just like when you scratch your hand or something...

It's probabily a crease in the metal and you are feeling the crease. The PDR guy can fix the metal ding/dent but not the paint surface. I think its worth the price, painting a freaking door will cost you almost $500.00 more or less, unless ofcourse the body shop will fix it along with the rest of your car.

Most of the time, its the ding that you see and not a little scratch in the paint when you have a doording delimma. Once the ding is gone and a bit of wax/cleaner, you can't tell
