Finally Back from Iraq and in 09 Space Gray 135i!!!

After crossing the world for the past 56 hours enroute from Iraq, I picked up my Space Gray 135i today. The is gorgeous in person, pics really dont do the car justice. It looks like a stocky little bull dog! Its got quite a bite to go along with that bark. I havn't broken 4500 RPMs yet, I'll hold off for a while if I can. I havn't floored it yet either, but man, I can feel all that power waiting to be unleashed. So far, 150 miles first day and I am very pleased with my decision. Now that bad part! I did Military BMW sales, and had been in contact with the owner (actually his wife, co-owner) for the past few weeks about the delivery and pick up of the vehicle. In my email I gave them EXPLICIT directions not to drill and put a front license plate holder on the car....they responded and told me they wouldnt. I get there today, and sure enough, theres a license plate holder attached, and CROOKED( slightly). I let them know that I was extremely displeased, they said sorry, but what is done is done! I let them know that I would be one VERY UNHAPPY First time BMW customer, and they said sorry, they didnt make any profit onthe vehicle anyways. No joke, this is the OWNER of the dealership unwilling to make it right! They said they dont have a body shop anyways and it would be very expensive to fix. I said I would take it up with BMWNA, and he just said, I guess you'll have to do that. He was not disrectful, but if I purchase a $40,000 car everything should be right. Any suggestions or people with prior expierence in this dept? THANKS GUYS! LOVE THE CAR. PICS in a day or two, with shadow line grills!

Welcome back and thanks for your service!!! Just curious, but where were you stationed in Iraq? I was in AR Ramadi 5 years ago when it all started.

Glad to see you got your 1'er now Its cool to know that for a moment our two 135is were at the same place for a while. Mine is the Black Sapphire Metallic one with the transportation wrapping and plastic still over it, there's a placard that reads 545 on it, back on the holding racks. More importantly though I want to congratulate on you on your safe return from deployment and thank you for your service. I think the worse anxiety I have is when my rotation comes around (which isn't too far off) and will have to leave my baby waiting to be driven for almost a year :'(. Oh, well, I knew that when I bought it, still worth it.

congrats and welcome back

and thanks for your service too!

The plate issue really bothered me as well but it was most likely done at the vehicle prep center. I tried to fight it to get a new bumper but if your state requires it by law then you are SOL...because due to liability BMWNA is required to install the bracket

hope you enjoy your 1!

Congrats! Glad you made it home alright. Were you talking with the BMW of Honolulu or with military sales on the request for no front license plate?

My state requires it but the bracket was never installed. I never even told them not to but I'm sure glad they didn't.

Thanks for all the nice thoughts everybody. I had a great day out driving the car, got alot of looks, had a few people ask about it, and of course was grinning the entire time i was driving. The worst part about the front plate bracket, is that its not required in kansas, where I had the car delivered! However, I wrote BMWNA, they responded quickly and will be calling me tommorrow.

^^^Cool buddy! I hope BMWNA resolves this. When I got my performance bumper, they left my original bumper at the paint shop. The shipped to my home on their dime...your situation seems worse and they should have done something about it. Good luck brother!
