I Got to See an M2 Today!
I stopped in at my dealer today about some issues with my One, and he had an M2 that had just come in. It was hidden in a back lot, and a couple of fellows escorted me to where it was hidden.
Wow is all I can say. You can't begin to appreciate this car until you see it in person. Everything about this car says macho with bulging fenders covering monster tires. The front has the look of a snarling pit bull and the back has a big wide flat butt with quad chrome exhaust pipes. The interior is really lush with big comfortable leather covered seats with blue stitching. And it had every option, HK radio, navigation, Executive PKG, DCT, LSD, 19" forged wheels with Michelin summer rubber all for $57K! My dealer isn't marking it up selling it for list which I consider the bargain for a BMW with this kind of power and equipment. A sales guy told me that they don't expect to get a lot in. If I had ordered today, I wouldn't get it until December. I figure BMW is going to limit the supply to see how it sells. Gee maybe when my warranty is up on the One, I might buy one? Of course, that's crazy, because my One is a very good ride! |

My son and I are going to look for a M2 today to look at and test drive.
My son is driving me crazy. You would think that this is the second coming of Jesus Christ. I maybe lucky enough to drive 1M, M2, M4, X6M, M5 (no comp. package) all in the same weekend. I just have to find a M2 in the greater DC area. Have a private test drive schedule for 1M. |

If you want to find one, go to Cars.com and search BMW dealers. You probably won't find one, since they are going out the door as fast as they come in.

Looking forward to test driving one once the flurry settles down. Can say I have seen one in person and its both boring and overdone at once. Hoping they'll address some of the cosmetic issues in the LCI. But I'm sure it drives very well!

I've always thought M cars looked a bit silly. Like a kit.

I think the last gen and basically all previous M cars look great. M cars jn general are certainly not the complaint. The stuff that's been coming out since 2015 is over the top while still being soft and rounded (see previous, boring). The i8 was interesting, but that's not an M car.

Cannot find one DC area. Nobody has one.
Was told by SA that M2 is a one year deal and only 300 are coming to United States. This sounds like BS. Or is this true? |

The only way you'll get one is pay an extra $10K to a scumbag dealer who marked the car up. If you encounter any like that, you might make a mental note not to ever buy from him.
When Nissan came out with their super car, GTR, a local dealer marked it up some huge amount and sold it. I'd never want something so bad to pay more than list. As for availability, in the past, M cars only appealed to a few buyers due to their price. I have know dealers who were stuck with some expensive inventory that took months to unload. When they did, the prices were marked down a lot. Anyway, I figure BMW will limit the supply to see how well the car sells. For the buyer, although the car appears to be a hit, I'd wait a year or two to see how the automotive press likes it. You might also consider that the One & Two cars aren't bread and butter cars for BMW dealers. In my town, they are very slow sellers, and dealers only keep a couple on their lots. |

After what I heard from the dealer on Friday morning about the BS of only 300 available for the foreseeable future, I decided go in a different direction.
Got the approval from the boss to sell my beloved 2013 M5 and pickup a 911 991.1 or Cayman GTS. I just want to go back to NA engine with MT. DCT is great but I miss rolling my own gears sometimes. The sad part is that; I will not be able to compare the cars before purchasing. I'm presuming that M2 isn't that much different than the M4. |

On Cars.com. there are 46 M2s available. It looks like 8 are marked up the rest are selling at list.
I wonder about you people. If you want a Porsche, go buy one. You don't need to rationalize your purchase, which I consider a bad one, with anyone. As far as the limited supply of M2s, remember that BMW will supply the European market before the American. I doubt the dealers are giving anyone BS. They want to sell cars and obviously to fill orders. However, they don't want to take orders on something that won't be available for an indeterminate time. Also if you want an M2, you can get one. I buy cars all over the country, and I make deals over the Internet. How do I pick them up? I hop on a plane and sometimes a Greyhound. Buses are a lot of fun except for the occasional serial killers you might run into. Depending upon the state, you might also be able to catch a train. Then you have the job of driving your new ride home and properly break her in! Make sure you check on the rules for sales taxes. California has a very high rate, 8.75% as I remember. Also I tell the seller, I'll give him a certified check for the full amount when I see the car. That allows me to back out of the deal if there is a problem. With a new car, you don't really have to worry. Since I pay cash, I don't have to worry about financing; however, there isn't any problem with financing a car not in your home state. |

Every car I've ever purchased was done with "cash", via EFT. Even the ones I've financed. The dealer gets all his money up front either way folks.
