All I can advise guys is that you need to pump the accelerator pedal very fast and hard (to the floor). On occasions it doesn't work for me either, quite bizarre really.

Do you push the accelerator all the way down past the kick-down button? Or just before you hit the button?

However one problem, when i switch of my traction completely off i cant keep my vehicle straight my car goes side ways untill i get to third gear anybody no how to resolve this issue, i dont think its my tyres as they brand new, but with traction half off i get some wheelspin but the car remains straight. |

That is because the stability control is off and will allow the car to behave how it wants.. Will it DSC only half off the stability control will reign things in if the arse end gets out of shape.
Will this technique that I have stumbled upon you can bring the revs right down and launch at lowish revs. This should prevent you getting a tank slapper.. |

Hey guys,
Maybe im stating the obvious...but in my 135i dct ( its a 2012, I took delivery a month ago), if you floor the throttle ie activate kickdown from a standing start, the engine revs to 2.5k-3k against the clutch and then lets it out/not quite dumps it.... Whats more, it allows you to feather the throttle for a pretty clean getaway...ive got the PPk installed, so its running more torque than normal ( not as much as my old Procede V4) and it works wonderfully. Has anyone else noticed this? |

This won't work when you're running more boost.. all you do is spin the tires.

Also the same applies the slower you push the pedal down the lower amount of revs. I think all that is happening is are pushing the accelerator down before the car has had a chance to let the clutch out. So whatever amount of revs you get up before that happens is what you launch at. Time it correctly and I believe you can get anywhere between 1-4k revs.

I have a 2012 135i and when i press the DTC button i get the car with skid marks and not the letters DTC. I tried everything and i cant get my launch control to work! Wondering if i need a software update?

I noticed another DIY Launch Control (the one described here doesn't work on my car although I'm pretty sure I have the latest software). Here is what works for me:
1. Activate launch control, as normal: RPMs will go to 3500 2. Release the throttle a bit, until say 2500RPM 3. Release the brake (first) and floor the throttle (right after). It actually sounds a bit basic but I've never seen it mentioned on forums and I see a lot of people trying to launch their tuned car with DCT.. That method works fine but it's very hard to get the timing right (at the track or at a traffic light :P). Another trick is that the RPMs can only go down once LC is activated, so if you missed the 2500 sweet spot you cannot press the throttle more to rev it up. Once the RPMs go up again, the LC will disactivate itself. Quite weird really, but it works. Curious to see if other people can do that as well ! |

^^^ This method does work to a certain degree, but the problem I have found with LC is the stability control cuts in once the car gets even slightly out of shape or hits a bump etc in the road..
I find it easier to turn everything off and control the rear end with the throttle.. I was at a sprint event this weekend and managed a best 0-60 of 4.3 using my method.. This is a vid of another run (4.4 0-60 and 12.9 1/4 mile) and as you can see from the vid, the conditions weren't too great.. |
