My stock 1M on a Mustang Dyno
Hey Folks,
So I dyno'd my stock 1M today and came up with some impressive results (especially for a Mustang Dynamometer) that I thought I'd share. I did 2 runs while monitoring AFR/boost manifold pressure. The first run was without the M-button pressed. The second run was with the M-button pressed. As you can see both runs are nearly identical hp/tq/AFR/PSI wise, so I think that's a bit more evidence that the M-button is good for gaining up throttle and little more. Another interesting note was that the shop owner recently tested a stock 335is on the same dyno and was shocked to see that I made 40 whp more than the other car. The assumption was that the two tunes were exactly alike... I guess not. For those too lazy to look at the graph: 340 whp and 400 lb/ft were the average of the 2 runs with peak boost of 12.6 PSI and min/max AFR of 11.5/18.9. Seems like this mustang dyno was reading at 12% drivetrain loss, normally mustangs are within 12-15% loss. Dynojet is 10% so thats why your seeing numbers close to a dynojet, because its only a 12% loss not 15%.

Sorry 1rider I'm a bit lost. How do we know what drivetrain loss the dyno was reading? Is that 12% based on what other 1Ms are putting down?

Even considering this he's still laying down around 385 whp and 450 wtq which is nuts Nice dyno btw pearlwhites.

It could be a high reading Mustang dyno (they are all not the same). The important thing is, that he has a baseline and that if he should start modding the car, he will see exactly what he is gaining granted he goes to the same dyno again.

The dyno seems suspect to me especially for the low max boost numbers. The only way to validate is to have another 1M do some pulls on the same dyno. Are the numbers SAE adjusted?

Practically your "stock" 1M is putting down 380+ hp and 600+ nm flywheel, though good news they seem really high; the other dynos I recall in this Forum were in avarage closer to 360 hp and 550 nm torque.
Also that much difference from a 335is is interesting. Other than a possible high reading dyno or a freak engine from factory, could you tell us what type of fuel was used? |

Dyno jets are normally 10% so they read the highest, Dyno dynamics normally read 18% so there the lowest. Mustangs are normally in the 12-15% range and seeing how high your numbers are id say it was a Mustang dyno at 12% drive train loss. And no he is not 380 whp he is 380 crank hp. About 440 crank torque as well. All in all very nice numbers! |
