What do you mean, "you get nothing." As in the OCC not having oil residue in the can? I checked it at 3 months (some residue on the walls); but nothing enough to empty. I think I need to check it soon, coming on 5 months now. I have the BMS OCC BTW...

I don't see the problem. It sounds like your car's not leaking oil through the PCV valve. The problem lies when the oil leaks through the valve and back into the intake and coats your intercooler etc with crud. If your OCC doesn't catch anything then you got nothing to worry about except that you possibly bought an OCC for no reason.
Happy days imo

Oil Catch Can. Filters out oil put into the intake by your PCV system. Its there to capture the gas vapors that pass by the piston rings during combustion and compression. During this process a small amount of oil is caught as well and funneled into the intake along with the gas vapors. Usually the oil is too heavy and falls out of the air stream before it makes it into the cylinders and coats your intake with oily crud.

Also, i normally see about a table spoon of oil in my catch can every 4-6 months. It's not a lot but at least I know it is not making its way to the intake valves. I know it is working since the inbound hose has oil residue inside while the outbound hoses is bone dry. |
