1M Wrist Watch!!

...well not exactly. But if there was one made it will closely mirror this.
I just happened onto this watch today.
It's no IWC, but build quality is on par with a Glashutte Senator Original. And although it is powered by a lowly ETA movement it still captured my heart.
Its presentation matches the personality of the 1M and there is an exact match to the Valencia Orange stitching found in our cars.
It also helps that it's made by Ball; one of the fastest growing companies in the industry with history dating back to 1891.
...just thought I'd share.

Well, that watch doesn't reflect any 1M in my book.

A 1M is in a class of its own. A watch which looks like a very bad IWC Fliegeruhr replica plus an ETA(just like 80% of IWC, I just sold my BP 5004 (manufacture movement) which had some issues ) doesn't come close to a 1M imo. Sorry.

I don't know which watch should match a 1M but it certainly isn't a Ball watch. And Ball definitely doesn't have the same quality as Glashütte....

I'd say an Omega diver 8500 watch, any Submariner or an IWC Mk XII with the JLC base movement.

Or maybe this PO:

But hey if you like it, it's fine with me

Cheers
Robin

BP's are well...HUGE. These are more fitting/ inline with something like a Range Rover... Plus the price these days >$12000.00 (might divulge the last time I looked at one) does not fit w our cars.
Last time I checked they were up to Mk 17; which has a re-worked ETA movement. Mk 12 is more inline with w the E30... Vintage, pure, no longer available.
Glashutte senator original has the same dial style/lay-out. That watch has more HEFT than the Ball because of the brand's infamous 3/4 plate. But in terms of dial fit and finish... There is no difference.
The sea master pictured is too busy, not inline w the 1M's spartan interior and the color does not match.
...subs are everywhere and quite hyped IMHO.
The Ball pictured was intended as an entry level piece, priced appropriately, has a utilitarian "feel to it", complete with DLC coating, tritium gas canisters and VO stitching.
Our car; entry level M car, MSRP < $50000.00, with an N54 motor, understated looks (by today's standards), and has VO everywhere.

I'd say its close in my mind.

If there is ONE single brand knowing something about MARKETING and cheating on their so called history, it's got to be U Boat. Way overpriced stuff(understatement) and they use more or less parts of the Panerai history for their own sake it looks like. They're indirectly lying imo. I don't get Panerai not having legal issues with them???

Two years ago we were @ Panerai store in Florence, I. And we also went to see U Boat 'headquarters' overthere. Tell me about it.

Not that Panerai isn't about marketing. it surely is too,(more than that LOL) but it has its REAL history. U Boat doesn't.One big pot of air/ a lookalike for a high price....

I'm in the watchtrade, my old man is a watchmaker.

Cheers

I'm not really into watches as jewelry and basically stopped wearing one after I got the original iPhone.

I did, however, start wearing a Pebble after I funded them on kick starter. It gets almost as many looks and comments as the 1M.

There's already a run keeper app and a lap timer type app is probably coming.

Also, it looks awesome in black. Just like Einser Rex

This is all about personal taste, thanks the op for this thread, made me found this Limited Edition ones from ball that have the BMW logo on the dial. Very nice, as for the others, already have this 2, and planet ocean is my favorite so far, my wife wears the rolex more because the green tint crystal looks nicer on females. Too much bling lol
