I can't be 100% positive, but I would assume being that the N55 are an OEM part, they must weight quite a bit more. The Maddads didn't weigh much when I had them.

I don't have either but in pics it appears the maddads have smoother bends which should create better flow? I don't know but I will be getting maddads when it is time.

I confirm the N55 already weighs so much less than the stock N54 mids! Also it'll get rid of that annoying drone on the highway. I have N55 mids + Akra wireless slip-ons.

Same set-up here. In so-called "Thunder Mode" (Code Red), this set-up hits the right notes and balance as to sound/noise (bass and rasp).

N55 mids plus Evolve Race here. N55 mids are indeed good in reducing/eliminating drone and giving some extra power, plus better response both at default mode (M button not pressed) throttle and at high rpms. They are also cheap and made in BMW.

They are not really loud though, if this is THE determining factor for you, buy Maddads. Same as N55 in all benefits, with a distinct and louder sound and almost double the price depending on where you buy them. They may not be that good to get rid of drone though but should be still better than stock.

Line up your priorities and you will know which one is better for you.

Of course, but only on the downpipes.

I'd say go with N55 mids - the resonator will help with drone and if you ever upgrade to Downpipes you'll be happy that the resonator is there to quiet it down a bit.

I'm currently running a Burger Motorsports DP with N55 Mids & Meisterschaft Exhaust. Without the DP the sound was very "tuned & refined" with slight backfire on low RPM's

With the DP the exhaust opened up significantly a bit of raspy sound below 3k but nice above 3k range.
