Pre-LCI mirrors on a 2011
Hey guys,
So these are the mirrors currently on my 2011 1er: I want to swap them for these: I'm trying to find out if the mirrors are a complete different replacement, or is it as simple as just buying new mirror caps? Thanks. |

The only problem with the pre-LCI mirrors is that they tended to create a high pitched whistling noise that I think a lot of people complained about, myself included, and thus they ultimately changed the design. Not sure what percentage of people experienced that, but from day 1 on my 2008 135, anytime I was above 60 mph, I got that high pitched whistling noise of wind going over my passenger mirror which was really irritating. Just something to be aware of. I'm sure there are a bunch of threads on it and I remember people had fixes for it like putting foam inside the mirror housing somewhere, etc.

The new, larger, LCI mirrors are the "dumbo ears." They were enlarged to comply with then new Euro regulations just like all other makes.
Good luck with the retrofit.
