where is a good tow spot in the front of 135i?

My buddy is stuck on some ice in a really bad spot. If he tries to drive out, hes going to slide into this rock wall. The best bet would be for me to hook up a tow hook in the front and pull him out a bit. Where is a good spot to hook up a tow strap in the front of the car? Im not familiar with 135's but on my 911 they have a tow hook that actually screws into the bumper/frame. Is there anything like this on the 135i?

Yes,
Look under the floor of the trunk, you'll probably find the tow eye there. Then pop out the little plastic square in the bumper and screw it in..... end of story.

Yea there is a small cap in the front bumper on the passenger side that should pop out. Then you can screw in the tow hook found in the trunk next to the battery. should be in a small plastic type pouch.

Yes the battery is in the trunk. Most, if not all BMW's put it in the trunk to help with the 50/50 weight distrbution when a driver is seated in the car. the battery is usualy close to the driver side of the car.

thats insane! I never have seen that before!
I thought with all electronics they loose some intensity if the cable is too long, or is that only with audio applications?

true about the audio application but if you use the right kind of cables (materials) you can achieve the same effect as with short cables. but these days its all about saftware that manages the electronics and there power consumption

Interesting, very good to know. I would have been quite puzzled when my buddy asks me to give him and jump and he pops the trunk! hahahaha

The proper boosting location is still under the hood on the 1-Series...it's all in the Owner's Manual...located on the passenger side, near the shock tower.

well you still jump the car from under the hood (front) there are connections designated for jumper cable hook up. I'm not so sure if you just attach the NEG to the frame of the car or if there is a NEG terminal. I was unable to find one in the picture I found on the internet.

1st (1990-97) and 2nd (1999-2005) generation Miatas have the battery in the trunk. I find it odd that my 3rd gen has it back under the hood.
Older VWs and Audis have it under the rear seat...so you have to open a rear passender door to get to them.
Porsches (rear engined ones) have it under the front hood...so effectively the same, given that they're backwards to begin with.

Does anyone remember the day when you could jump start a manual by giving it a good push and throwing it into gear? I helped do that a few times.

I think also part of the reasons in putting the battery away from the engine, is because it not exposed to the heat of the engine ...etc

A fellow 1addict and I jump started my e30 using the terminals in the trunk of his 135i.

That was quite a sight.
