Just bought e92 coupe 2 weeks ago...now i want 1 coupe or cabrio
Hi all....newbie here and i just bought a e92 320 coupe 2 weeks ago...space grey with grey leather and some other options.well now i want to sell it and buy a black 1 coupe or black 1 cabrio.i just want a more fun car.the 3 coupe is just to plain....its nice but the 1 coupe is more unique.previous cars that i owned are e36 coupe, clk, and e90.i just love the looks of the 1 especially the rear end and how compact and small the car is.for i think this car will be a classic.i am also thinking for the 1 convertible just because i always wanted one and never bought one.the problem is that if i do this all my friends and family will think i am stupid for selling a 2 week old car to get a smaller car and lose money....but they don't undertand.you guys here on the forum are the first ones to know about my thoughts.....please help.i'm in love with the 1 coupe!!picture of my car that i just bought 2 weeks ago.i can't sleep over this situation and i am 100 % sure i want to this.

why would you lose money, just sell it for whatever you paid for it. maybe even tack on a few extra bucks to cover taxes

Perhaps you can find somebody in a similar situation who just bought 1ser cabriolet and want to swap for a bigger car. Your car can be also tracked when cabrio not.

I agree that the 1 is destined to be a classic. Your best bet is to trade the 3 for a 1 demo or resale. Although I don't know what the market is like in Greece, I think in the US the dealer would help you do this without too much of a financial penalty. Start calling around. Take consolation in the fact that there will always be a new model in the pipeline to want.

There are alot of people on this forum switching from the classic 3 series to the 1er range. In my experience I am moving from an overpriced, underpowered entry level 3 series to a top of the range 1 series with all the options. It has everything I need and for what I am getting I think the 1 series is great value.
If you do a comparo between the 135i and the 335i and manage to look past the design and curves they both essentially are the same car. The 3 series is definately the more sleeker and classier looking car but if you appreciate the 1 series looks you can save yourself alot of money and get pretty much the same thing. In your situation if you can afford to cut your losses and go for the 1 series I would too. The 1 series is an enthusiasts car and a daily driver that could easily do everything your 320 coupe could do. If you can do it you should go for it! |

i guess im the opposite of most people on this website. i choose the 135i due to cost....i think the 335i is nicer in every way. (i know the 1 is slightly faster due to a weight advantage -- but i don't track race my car). i love my car, but i think the 335i is better looking and more classy.
i choose the 135i because $54,000 for a 335i cabrio was out of my price range.

3-series is a great car of course. But every mother around here has a 328i with a booster seat in the back. I wanted something you don't see every day. I have seen only 2 other 1-series since I bought mine in Aug 08.

Yikes, I'd think selling a two week old car would hurt your pocketbook pretty bad. You could make that 3 look great with some new wheels, drop it, and tint. Probably wouldn't cost much more than you're going to loose on a sale. Who knows though, maybe I'm wrong. How much did you pay?

Hi Boolis
I to used to own a 320d coupe E92 and traded it for a 135i and have never looked back, if you can afford it, go for it. |

I didnt even know they sold a 320i coupe, here in australia the 323i coupe is the lowest you can get in the lineup. Goodluck with your decision

i got back from Greece a couple of months ago and man, those are some crowded streets, especially Athens. between the cars and mopeds every where (seriously, those mopeds were like cockaroaches the way they would scatter in front of you. no concern for you or anyones safety!) I would want a small and agile car for getting around there.
