135i jumping out of first gear
Loving the 2nd hand (34,000k) vert so far, but twice it has jumped out of 1st gear on take-off. Neither time has been under full load.
I came across a couple of threads here which indicate that this is not an unheard of problem, but I couldn't find anything that resolved to a cause or remedy. Is anyone able to shed any light on this issue? Makes me nervous, as I can foresee some fun times ahead (not) if it's something the dealer ought to fix under user car warranty. |

I would seek out the advice from a BMW dealer. You could have a bad manual transmision. How long are your transmsions covered (down under)? How long is the powertrain warranty?
IF you are out of warrnty I would first check or even change your trans oil. I would also check your motor mounts and trans mounts. One might be broken casuing your engine to more more than it should and be pulling the trans put of gear as the engine moves around. |

Happened to me twice in the 135i when the k s were still low. Took it to the dealer, I think they did a rebuild? and it was fine after.

I've just bought this one second hand - 08 model so it's out of factory warranty and being an intermittent issue I'm anticipating difficulty getting the (non-BMW) dealership I bought it from to take much interest as a warranty item.
But thanks for the suggestion re trans oil and engine mounts - sounds like a good place to start, I'll get them checked out. |

There was a thread back in 08 in regards to this fault..
If I recall, it was only the 08 models and it had something to do with gearshift mechanism more so than the gearbox. |
