Airbag Seat Emulator with Race Seats?
To whom this may concern.
I'm trying to track down some airbag light emulators when I take the dive into race seats (sometime this year hopefully). Please, I don't want to hear a debate on what I'm trying to do. I want the airbag light gone but the airbag to be active (something that the Macht Schnell DOES NOT DO). I've browsed some forums and saw that this has worked before, but appears to only be up to 2011 per this ebay thread. This has me concerned because it doesn't appear that any emulators has hit the market for LCI cars. So, with that being said....is there an airbag difference between the Pre-LCI and LCI that these emulators won't work? (See below). http://www.ebay.com/itm/160854844395...84.m1439.l2649 |

First thing I'd do (not that it's a definitive answer) but check part numbers on realoem for pre and LCI for occupancy sensor and other related parts. If they're the same part numbers good chance the emulator might work.

I know the occ sensors are apart of the seats, but even trying to go through realoem I cannot find those sensors. |

What you specifically are looking for is part 6 (which is not listed individually) but it's part of the entire package of part 1 The p/n for part 1 is: 65779184433 Separate from this, the only OC part number I can look up that was listed separately for the e9x was 65779153119, which shows up as part 6 in similar diagrams. However for these cars, their respective part 1 is not what's in bold above but rather is 65779166057 and it seems like this shows up for 3-series built between 2007 and 2010. So this could be similar case to the Z4 E85/86 where in the early model years the sensor could be purchased separately whereas the newer 07+ could not. In fact if you click on the realoem link here which corresponds to the picture above, it says: "Sensor mats for detecting seat occupancyon passenger side of US models are included in the HG52 seat upholstery" P/N 65779153119 is listed here in this diagram: http://bmwetk.info/parts/prd/BMW/VT/...88/65779153119 |

I looked at an 06 build and saw that the PN is different (ended on 09/2007) After that, it is the same part number for 2010 build E82...so it would appear I am okay? |

It appears so. I just checked an 09 build and they also have 65779184433 listed. Since yours is is a 2011-12 and also uses 65779184433, I see no reason why those emulators won't work for you. But keep in mind this is purely based on some simple logic of cross referencing p/n, there could be more to it but this is how I figured out which emulator to use on my Z4.

The driver side does not need a emulator because it already assumes a driver in the seat and therefore the airbag is always "active". Correct? |
