Interesting. I wonder how close that sounds to the e90 eisenmann. Sounds very similar to my '89 Supra Turbo w/ HKS exhaust and aftermarket muffler. It too was a 3.0L inline-six. Almost too low of a pitch at that volume for my tastes (i.e., sounds a little like a boat). Sounds better muffled IMHO.

The 3-series all seem to have a low-pitched growl, and I'm not sure what component(s) give rise to this (aside from exhaust).

That clip sounded pretty bad. It sounded like a Honda or Toyota.

I'm a believer in aftermarket exhausts, and I'd love to invest in one but only if it made the right sounds. I want to recreate the music that stock BMW mufflers made in years past. I don't want it to sound like a teenager's pocket rocket, I want it to sound like the days when BMW's used to make purposeful, businesslike sounds that seemed to put focus on the mechanical aspects of the engine. Sort of a deep sound that BMW has covered up in the last several years. The E46 328/330i kind of had it, but the 323/325 did not. Now, neither the 325 or 330 has it.

Not sure how to accomplish this with sport exhausts.

Just got of the phone with the exhaust place and they said my exhaust will ship today and will be in by friday!

He said that he a guy come in with a custom exhaust that sounded loud and aweful and replaced it with the sport exhaust and it now sounds amazing!

If it comes in Friday, I will have it installed first thing Saturday.

Please post any sound clips here or to:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...856#post122856

In that thread, I posted a link to a site that has sound clips for various exhaust systems on an e36 M3.

Thats a terrible sound clip. Eisenmann exhausts sound amazing. My guess is that muffler is no where near being broken in. I have one on my e46, and I love it. Atty, you do not know what your talking about. This pure business, throaty sound hasn't come from a stock BMW in quite some time...it was partially there with the e36 M3. You can get the sound out of any of the BMWs with the right exhaust. And it deff did not sound like a four banger. If you guys would like to hear mine, I know I have an e46, but it is a great example of a well broken in eisenmann. Granted I have other mods, but you can't go wrong with the sound and build quality.

Yes please make the sound clip of your E46, I am considering purchasing the eisenmann exhaust for my E90, but I want to hear it first. Something still makes me uncomfortable about dropping 900 dollars on an exhaust. I need to be sold on the idea first. :rocks:

Go get a Honda Civic and put it on that car. Or, download the sound you want to an Ipod and play it when you drive around.

Here is a clip of my friends 2005 E46 325ci at the time he only had the eisenmann race exhaust (no intake yet) so you can hear what the exhaust will sound like kind of... His exhaust is the 2x70 race exhaust, and he has the catback version which is not available for the e90 yet but it is a two piece catback so you can always go back later and do the rest...

His car was what really got me into modded bimmers, I love the sound of eisenmann race exhaust and just ordered it for my car hopefully it will be in and on in the next 2 weeks!

The sound of a Eisenmann after the 500 mile break-in is nothing like a Honda Civic. The Eisenmann exhaust is very deep and throaty! Eisenmann makes the OEM exhaust for Porsche and the SLR, do any Porsches sound like a Honda?

No just VW's

What you can't tell me a 356A doesn't sound like an old Bug.
