That strait exhaust is a bit much... when i did my down pipes my car sounded like for a short period. That was because the cheap bolts i bought from home depot snapped... didnt notice they had moved the grade8 section and i was in a hurry. It was fun for a bit but just overkill more bark than bite. I prefer to blast ahead and not give away the lurking power ahead of time. As a side note... most ford interiors i see feel dated and heavily worn prematurely... perhaps thats just my opinion though.

The OP sounds like a big spender. Just pony up the bucks and buy an M2.

I have to say I love my N55 with the DCT. I've never launch controlled my car. But even just putting it in 1st and mashing the gas feels brutal and before you know it your doing 120+.

If you have the money you can upgrade the dual clutch if it starts slipping due to increased HP. I believe it's SSP who makes them.

As far as reliability the n55 is great. I've put 70k on it since I bought it and only had the oil filter housing gasket go bad. Other than that with preventative maintenance it's been bullet proof.

$2k-$5k depending on HP rating.

The stock, manual trans is good for 600+ HP in the 2011-2014 5.0. The weak point seems to be the internal engine bits, it is an aluminum engine.

A 135i stock DCT is good for 400rwhp (or so, maybe a bit more) before you'll have to start upgrading. At least from what I remember reading on here. The DCT isn't a cheap transmission to deal with compare to the conventional auto trans.

The n54/n55 are also amuminum engines.... aluminum is probably the most common engine composition now.

I'm sure a good percentage of Mustangs get tuned and Ford knows that's going to happen and builds them to withstand more horsepower.

My '06 4.6 liter Mustang GT manual took an additional 175hp (300 to 475) and handled it without any issues when I added a supercharger to an otherwise stock car.

Now the internals of the ford look like they are not very ruggedly designed. Rods/piston/oilpump

Yea but most companys will beef up the internal bits, like the connecting rod or crank. Which Ford did not.

When the 5.0 came out, Ford said the engine was "maxed" out and no one knew how much the engine could take for power adders. Seems it could take more than anyone thought. The old 5 oh just keeps on giving.

Yea, the internal bits are the weak point but you have to be pushing 600+ HP. I think it's actually closer to 700 HP before those bits fail.

Does the OP want a fast, fun car or a fast, I'm going to beat everyone (mostly) car?

While on the transmission topic.. How is the DCT trans? I've been reading that people have been getting a lot of "slipping", but a lot of those threads were old. Did those updates help? If I got the 135i I'd do jb4, catless, and maybe one other performance mod. How would the DCT handle that?

OP, I saw the title of the thread and wanted to add my story.

I have an 06 Mustang GT, got into a hail storm and had to get it fixed. It took forever, so I decided to get back into BMWs (I had a 330xi in the past)

My conundrum, sell the GT for a BMW, or keep it and eat the down payment on the bimmer. I decided to keep the GT and get the bimmer.

I couldn't be happier. Granted, its a 128i, not a 135i like you're looking at, but I like having the best of both worlds! The comfort and smooth ride of the bimmer (quick little car too), and the V8 rumble and straight line speed of the GT. God I love the sound of a V8, haha.

I am no means "rolling in cash", but the GT was paid off, and I got the 128i for way below average. I will tell you this much though, I would miss the GT if I sold it...and now I'll have a cool weekend car!!!! (Not to mention the GT has every bolt on, but no FI)

Good luck with your choice, its a tough one!

Just listened to your video. That sounds nice. I wouldn't want to lose that, but personally, I got a thing for the sound of a V8, and yours sounds pretty sweet.

Maybe you're just used to it and want something different. Maybe you just need a change and there's nothing wrong with that. Some people get bored with cars easily.

I usually bore with my car once i run out of toys and mods to do to it... or it just isnt that quick. I have had 150MPH+ cars before but this 135 it shocks and thrills me to just be playing around for a few sec and look down to see 130 or 140 after only a touch of WOT on the open highway.

DCT won't be an issue with that
