JB4 failed emissions (not ready) used map 0

Hey guys,

I was rejected during my emissions test today as, "not ready." From my research it should pass without issue when switched to map 0. My only mod is the BMS intake. Exhaust and everything else is bone stock. Please advise as I would rather not remove and reinstall if at all possible. I believe I have the canflap on. I have never cleared any codes to date, but I can't remember if I turned on autoclearing or if it's already set to autoclear with the iso updates (I have the most recent update). I basically switch to map 0, then turned the car off and back on to confirm map 0 was set. I didn't drive any distance on map 0.

Let me guess its because of iso firmware. Even in map 0, its not totaly bypass. Correct me if Im wrong.

Yes, I switched to map 0, but I didn't drive it any distance (pretty much just switched in the parking lot waiting for the inspection. I will try to turn off autoclearing and switch the canflap back to stock to see if that helps.

I was pretty sure you have to go thru a few drive cycles- quick search seems to verify that, and found a pdf with some details...

Thanks for the replies guys. I saw that pdf earlier, but that's a pretty stringent plan. So I'd have to get that exactly right without variation to get the, "ready," in all areas? With stoplights, other cars, etc... that seems like a tall order. Is that really my only option? Who can do that without exceeding 3000 rpm on a daily driving routine?

Well, you can take a week randomly driving around to cover all the points and reset your cycles. Or you can take 30 minutes to do the routine and go pass your inspection.

I appreciate the info, but that seems like it would be way more difficult and time consuming than removing the jb4 itself. I know others have passed without going through this process. I'll probably just turn off autoclearing and drive around for a while and see what happens.

Well, I'm in Fla, no inspection required, so no dog in this fight. Still, wouldn love to see some reference material on being able to pass inspection without needing to go through the process if ya have some links or whatever.

Far as I know its set the sensors or know /pay somebody ....

It looks like some of the iso update may be an issue. I spoke with Terry from BMS and he gave me some things to try. I'll let you guys know how it goes on the next attempt. Worst case I'll take it out and reinstall. For all the time and research, it probably would have been much faster doing it that way, hahahahaha.

Uninstalling won't set the monitors to ready. You'd still need to go through the drive cycles outlined in the prior posts.

Any car would need to go through a drive cycle. Modded or not.

Just run in Map 0 for a few days and you should be ok. But make sure you're driving for 30+ minutes prior to your inspection.

Thanks for the advice guys, that's the route I am taking. I've been driving it around plenty and trying to keep it within the parameters of the cycle. Also, thanks for the advice to drive 30 minutes before the test, I wouldn't have known that.

No. My daily driving pattern does not meet the drive cycle requirements.

OP is correct that following that drive cycle in urban driving may be difficult. I planned carefully and took a freeway where I could decelerate and come to a stop. It takes approx. 20-30 min. to drive through one of those cycles. For good measure I did it twice and it worked for the past two CA smog checks--where the smog place charges you every time even if you are not ready.

Did you pass? What did Terry suggest?

I just failed, and i've been driving on map 0 for a week.
