Did anyone buy the tire warranty and how much
Joanne, Bill's wife here, I was curious, did anyone buy the tire and wheel warranty for your 1M and if you did how much did you pay?
My last BMW I had a record 6 nails in 6 different tires in about 3 months, I'm so glad I had the tire warranty because it definitely paid itself off. We bought it for the our 2010 MINI and we have used it once. We were originally quoted 1695.00 but I told him I didn't want to pay that much, so he lowered it to 1295.00 for 5 years unlimited miles. That still was more than double what we paid for it on the MINI, but I figure if we get 3 flats in 5 years it would pay itself off too. |

According to TireRack
It's probably worth it to buy the warranty depending on the fine print. The conclusion is based on TireRack prices for the tires: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...&filterType=oe
Does the warranty cover pre-mature/excessive wear? |

haggle more. Under a grand and I would get it if you're getting that many flats. When I bought my 1er, the price went from $1600 to $1200 then to $1000 just by saying no each time. I still didn't get it.

they wanted $1400 and almost lost their minds at VOB in Maryland when I said no...started saying sarcastic things like "well good luck then" and were very rude afterwards.

I just signed today for pick up next week and got this. I got the protection plus according to the bmwusa website. Includes wheels, tires, windshield (just happened to my other car last week ) and paintless dent/ding removal. I was told it covered lost keys too. It cost me $1200 and I figure one tire/wheel combo will pay for it essentially.

Is this something offered through BMW or BMW Financial? I'm replaced four runflats on my 335i, so I wish I had it on that car, and I'll definitely get it on the 1M.

Hell yeah thats why I took it!! I think mine is through a third party but I'm sure that they would honor it at other locations. Call Maurice at Wyoming Valley Dealers in Kingston, PA. I'm sure they'd offer the same to you. I'd just check to make sure you don't only have to go there though for replacements, etc. Tell 'em Chris sent you.

That is about what i was quoted too. I haggled and got the 5 yr for 1200.00. There is mark up in this so they can make a deal.

Any updates on this topic? What have people been paying recently for the various protection packages? Do they have to be purchased at time of vehicle sale, and if not how long do you have to add it?
Also, back when I bought my now-out-to-pasture Cobra Mustang there was a Ford dealer out in the middle of Iowa or Idaho who made a tidy side income by selling Ford-branded extended warranties to all comers around the country WAY below retail without haggling. By chance is there a BMW dealer who fills a similar niche? |

I had the wheel protection on my E46 M3 and cancelled it within a few months. Doesn't cover curb rash as we found out the hard way. Never had any bad luck with punctures or bent wheels. *knock on wood*
