Possible to get the N55 to sound anywhere like an M4?

Basically title.

I enjoyed driving the M4 and how it really opened up when you hit the gas, both with speed and engine noise. Can all the bolt on mods get the 135i anywhere close that?

Arguably the N55 will sound better. Most would say the S55 sounds like a UPS Van.

Straight line speed? Tough on N55 without significant turbo work.

Lol, yeah a pretty common theme over on f80post is guys generally don't like how they sound! They like the sound when they go single turbo though.

I agree with the speed. With the stock turbo, you can upgrade hpfp and run an e-blend fuel and hit upper 300's for whp. But you can do really well if you're willing to upgrade the turbo. I'm not sure about 2010 and early 2011's, but realoem shows newer n55's run the same rods as s55. Same compression ratio, same valve sizes and lift, so if you upgrade fueling and turbo you can get very comparable results to s55. Not a lot of people choose to though, so it's not as well known. The Big Boost guy is running 750 whp on his stock block n55 by using an appropriately large turbo, and limiting torque in the tune in the lower/mid rpm to save his rods from bending.

Easier to keep the stock block alive if you're willing to give a big twin or single setup time to spool and breathe. These open decks and soft rods do not like big torque and timing combo down low.

The n55 is one of the best sounding motors imo. If you are just going for sound a downpipe may be enough. Downpipe and bmw performance exhaust is just beautiful.

Here is my car with dp and bmw pe exhaust. Second race you can hear downpipe and stock exhaust from my buddies car. Both cars with pure stage 2 turbo and injen intake. But stock turbo will sound similar. So good.
