New owner. New to bmw 2011 135i
Hello all,
I have recently purchased my first BMW. It has taken 14 years but I have finally parted with the chrysler corporation. I was looking for a nicer car than what I was used to, as well having the ability to go to the track and just have fun. I guess I am getting lazier but dragging out the racecar or chumpcar started to get tiring for just a lapping event. Purchased a 2011 135i with a manual of course, I dont know how to drive automatic. Has 52,000 km. So far loving it. Had it two days and it has already seen track time. Mosport of course. I just have a couple of real quick noob questions. I bought this car privately. Is there a way I can register this car with BMW so I can receive any possible recall letters? second, what does everyone use for jackstands on this thing. I have the type that would sit in a pinch weld. I see they make jack adapters. I just cant see them working well with jack stands? thanks for your time. |

Congrats on your purchase. You will love it.
Yes you can register with BMW. Just go on the BMW site and look for the link. I don't remember where it is exactly but it can def be done. As far as jack stands, I'd just invest in ramps and chocks for oil changes and maneuvering under the car. For jacking up the car you will need jack pads. I'm not sure where to put stands so I don't use them. There are some YouTube videos on jacking up you car and using jack stands. Bullshit corner is the guy I watch. He's entertaining and has good info. Congrats again and good luck. |

Congrats!
I wish I had a race track like Mosport close by! As far as the jack stand, I cut a couple of Hockey pucks in half and they fit in the plastic jack locations on top of the jacks. I use a full hockey puck on my Jack to pad the metal cup on my jack. Usually drive on a 2x6 so I can get clearance first.. |

Good choice of color and transmission. I use pieces of 3/4 baltic birch plywood in the plastic jacking points. I made some for the jack stands and a little smaller pieces for use of the jack. I roll up on 2x4s so I can get my Harbor Freight (inexpensive) jack to the center jacking point, usually, and then put the stands on the plastic jacking points.

Same here! I bought a 2011 135i in April, and after driving for a few months, have started looking at some basic mod options. Mine is a blue w/o iDrive, and 6spd. Any Hawaii owners here?
