best option you can do is put your name and a deposit on either the rb or helix upgraded turbo's. there's another company that might have units in-stock, i forget their name though.

helix and rb will likely be your best bet. check e90post or n54tech for the threads and info to put a deposit. you'll need core turbo's unless you want to take yours off and wait while the company upgrades them.

or, wait until hpf or ar design release their single turbo conversion. i think ar design are closer to selling a kit, but it's going to be over $10k most likely

I'll wait as long as it takes for AR's single turbo kit for the n54

No one's said anything about pricing yet, it's all speculation. AR even said they couldn't picture this kit being 10k

There is no way that hardware could be worth $10K unless they are shooting for some ridiculous profit margin.

A bigger turbo is going to require:

1. charge pipes and a larger intercooler
2. possibly larger injectors
3. tune
4. possible custom fabrication for exhaust?

And if you're finally putting down a lot more power, you have to worry about the transmission, drive shaft, rear diff, and rear axles breaking. Not to mention the slew of motor problems you potentially run into doubling the psi the stock turbos dumped into the cylinders.

The turbo kit won't cost $10k, but I'll bet you double it's cost getting the rest of your car up to snuff. In my experience, once you step outside the realm of conservative tunes using stock parts and start adding larger turbo's to any car, the cost goes up...exponentially.

Cliffnotes: You think it'll cost $? It'll actually cost $$$$$.

But you don't HAVE to go launch your car at the dragstrip or run 21+psi. The intercooler and clutch should be purchased separately. The tune will be part of the package as an option I hope, as some of us may already happen to have the Standback 2 at the time of purchase. The custom down-pipe is included, and ties into the factory exhaust. Of course, this kit will come with it's own intake and charge plumbing, at least up to the intercooler, from the intercooler outlet it could use stock plumbing.

The only thing I could see breaking at this point would be the axles, considering they have already snapped on people that are lowered and running drag radials while doing hard launches.

QFT

and there's that's not even accounting for other, misc items that will add up quick while you're doing the build. things like:

-new exhaust manifold gasket
-vacuum system components
-heat wrap
-etc etc etc

i went through a turbo build on my last car. even though i never completed it i added up enough receipts to know how much a true turbo conversion costs.

Yeah, and I understand that a lot of the stuff I mentioned in my post will be included in the kit, however you ALWAYS spend way more than just the cost of the kit. If the kit is $4k, I'd budget for $6k-$7k.

Ummm the ar kit only runs 14-15 psi...

The engine was built for over 400hp the transmission can handle 450 hp on the stock clutch. The weak link are the halfshafts...easy enough replacement

The ar kit has only run 15psi so far.

That turbo is capable of much higher boost levels while being efficient.

Actually, you can't go below 14psi unless you change the wastegate spring on it.

Shouldve made myself more clear. The ar kit makes 460 hp with 15 psi of boost.

If you want much more power than that there is ^no satisfying you.

While I don't think an N54 car will be like a 1200 supra ten years from now I have ^no doubt that we can make high power reliably.

as of now there's no knowing what's going to happen until some more tests are run with higher boost. that turbo they're using is good for 700whp, i'm not saying the n54 can handle anywhere near this much power, but as of right now its not too certain if i can't handle anything around 500whp

500whp has been broken, on nitrous. With proper fueling and a properly sized turbo there should be even less to break or cause issues while trying to hit 500+whp.

Once the N54 blows apart people will start custom sleeving and using forged internals anyway. It shouldn't be too hard to eventually get 1000whp out of a 3.0L I6 like the N54.
