135i to 1M conversion whats req'd
Just want to know what parts are required to get everything under the 135i suspension, driveshaft wise etc so it would be as close to the 1M without looking like one.

Yup just go pickup high quality aftermarket suspension components and your car will handle better than a 1M. Such as AST Coilovers, Quaife LSD, etccccc. It all depends how much time and $ you want to throw at it.

If you want the appearance of the 1M, you can get the last 8 of the vin off of one and order the bumpers, exhaust, etc....although I'm not 100% sure that the 1M bumpers fit a 135 with the fender flares and all

IMO, I think if a 135i had a good set of brake pads and high temperature brake fluid, a limited slip dif, reflash, M3 suspension links/dialed in alignment and a sticky set of rubber with a good driver you can be right on with a 1M without any issues or possibly faster.

You should go for better than 1M, which is easy enough for suspension, tune, cooling, LSD and BBK.
Then add track wheels, better tires, the remaining M3 suspension parts, maybe an SSK. Other stuff - I've heard 1M has a better gearbox and flywheel, better motor mounts, and better steering box. And there are the wide fenders and better brake ducts. Well, you decide what's worth doing. |

IMHO my 135 with tune and suspension mods is every bit, if not better than
1M. I know for a fact that mine puts out more power. The dyno showed 370hp at the wheels. As far as looks the only thingI would like are the wider fenders. |

Suspension - Coilovers, M3 control arms, M3 rear subframe bushings, M3 sway bars
LSD - Pretty much any LSD, though I like OS Giken Cooling - BMW performance power kit cooling components Tune - Pretty much any tune Brakes - Big Brake Kit Tires - Decent tires. Star specs or Pilot Sports Do all this and you'll be "beating" a 1M. You can be roughly equal with just a good set of coils, a tune, an LSD, and the cooling components. 135i have strong brakes, but they fade much quicker and aren't suited for the track, and a good set of aggressive coilovers will put you probably on par with a stock 1M which has a slightly softer setup and compensates with stiffer sway bars and subframe bushings (which is why so many 1Mers upgrade with coilovers). Then you can get FMIC, Intake, Exhaust, Downpipes, Methanol, Strut bar, etc and be even faster. Anything the 1M can do, you can do Except get really wide tires easily. That's the only thing we'll never really be able to do..

I am sure you're right about that. Hardened motor mounts would be a nice improvement. |

I don't even have a tune and my car has been faster around the track than a 1M and a e90 M3. so yeah it's not that hard making a 135 faster than a 1M if you don't mind not having the badge and honor of driving one

I was just going to reference you and your ride. Minus an LSD or any additional power no less, but with super crazy person grip tires so... An impressive feat without a doubt.

thanks! will be working on that lsd for next season. just have to bite the bullet and do it. letting go of $4k in this economic environment is somewhat hard to swallow but I am trying really hard not think rationally about all this

They are excellent responses,
It is not the look im after. I love the 135i current looks. I wanted to handling. Doesnt the 1M have an M3 rear axle etc. Well this is what i was meaning. SO some decent suspension, LSD/ and should out handle a standard 1M. EDIT: ANd as for sticking a M badge on the back. Pfffffft lol. I love the fact its not an M but can outperform most Ms I dont want the badge. WHen i have a real M. It will be an honour. |

@Gofast I'm waiting for a quote from my shop. Got my eyes on a osgiken unit. Little pricier but more suited for the track. VAC is a good shop. I had called them last year. Problem was I couldn't leave the car and it wasn't convenient

Nice, yeah I hear you. OS Giken uses clutch plates, right? How often do you need to replace or maintain those? You mean business.
