Who actually makes the BMW Performance Exhaust?

Who is actually the manufacturer (subcontractor) of the Performance Exhaust? Clearly it is tagged as a BMW item, but wonder if it is made by a recognizable exhaust manufacturer?

For example, Remus makes the exhausts for AC Schnitzer, Supersprint does the same for Hamann, etc. I would think BMW subcontracted it given the limited numbers as opposed to spend the resources in-house.

It is made in England by John Cooper Works - as in MINI.

When I got mine the box had labels on it for shipping from Cooper to BMW. I cut out the labels and saved them.

Have Fun,
Rick

Excellent information, thx! Actually, in my mind that really raises the bar and personal consideration for the product. JCW is an expert and has been for a while, so their products have been well tested over the yrs. I love the burble and slight detonation on the JCW Mini, I almost pulled the trigger on one before the 135i. Glad I didn't, that thing priced nearly $40K!

I am pretty sure Eisenmann is making the performance and stock exhaust.

Compare the BMW exhaust to their design...identical.

The design looks similar indeed, but that in no way is an indication Eisenmann is the manufacturer. Look at the AC Schnitzer ehxaust on the E39 M5 for example, completely different than the Remus quad, but both are made by Remus. So looks are not a true testament - it is the outer and inner materials, interior design, tubing, craftmanship, welding points/technique, etc.

And I can see how BMW can rely on an in-house shop like John Cooper Works to develop the Performance Exhaust rather than an outside vendor like Eisenmann (with whom the have no control over).

I'm not basing that statement on looks alone. A vendor posted awhile back that Eisenmann is making the oem exhaust for BMW and Porsche...i don't remember who it was.

Is that across all models fitted with manufacturer's "Performance Product" labels (e.g. 1-, 3- series, Porsche Sport Exhaust for 911 Carrera, Cayenne, etc.)?

Seems we have diverging 'evidence', a poster hear clearly has indication this is a JCW product. Unless JCW subcontracts to Eisenmann, but then too many middlemen, doesn't look logical to have so many monkeys on the tree...

I am only referring to the 1 series. ...however I am only relaying information. Nothing is 100% unless we talk to BMW.
