Why Should I get an Oil Catch Can? The main reason to add the BSH Competition Oil Catch Can to your N54 engine is to reduce / eliminate oil blow-by. Blow-by is caused when combustion forces fuel, air, and vapors past the piston rings and into the crankcase. There is usually a PCV system that releases the crankcase pressure and usually re-directs the air into the intake tract. This oil blow-by phenomenon happens on all engines, but is more pronounced on turbocharged engines. The blow-by will eventually gunk up and build up in the valvetrain, turbo, intercooler, and charge pipes. Why is this bad for my N54 Engine?

Installed this product last week, pretty easy and definitely doing the job. I am currently in process of installing the ER FMIC, Dinan Intake & Oil Cooler and i can confirm that all the charge pipe and I/C tubes are all lined w/ oil
 ... very happy i put this bad boy on. look good under the hood too! Thanks **********s

What is an oil catch can?
Answer: Blow-by is a constant problem with any turbocharged engine. While a normal byproduct of the combustion process if it isn’t contained outside the engine it will collect and gum up the valve train, turbo and most importantly the intercooler and plumbing. When this occurs it reduces the thermal efficiency of the intercooler, thus losing power and performance.
