Pulleys

Just wondering if anyone N52/N54/N55 has changed their pulleys?

It was one of the first things i'd change on my Subarus as i could reduce about 80% of weight in the pulleys very quickly and easily.

The responsiveness from the Subaru was utterly beautiful after a pulley reduction, so I could only imagine what it could be like in an N52.

Not that i know of, which was going to be my question to anyone that has changed them!

It wouldn't be too tough to have them made up though.

I really think it would be a great mod for us. I remember the pull from 100+ in the Subaru was 'kick in the seat of your pants' type of stuff.

Silly question time. In my WRX I had them as well, the main benefit was the the fact that you were using the "underdrive" pulleys to reduce the amount of energy lost by driving the alternator.

I did not think the alternator in the 125/135 ran all the time, so you would only pick up the efficiency from the slightly lighter pulleys, which may not be worth the trouble. Someone with better understanding of the 135 had best confirm this though.

The WRX pulleys worked both ways - reducing drivetrain weight and the underdriven alternator pulley.

IMO, the benefit was more in the weight loss than the underdriven pulley.

Wonder if Andrew (SBM) knows anything about any pulleys that may be available...
