The BMW PE has a muffler. You can install it with no cutting.
If you want to install the optional Y pipe that comes with the BMW PE (to eliminate the resonator), you have to cut the exhaust.

Fixed that for you, I think you were confusing posts. Now just add what CMSS2000 said above and you should be all straightened out.

I don't think the PE kit comes with directions. I think your BMW has to look them up on their intra-net. Or... you can go to the BMWTIS website and sign up for a one day subscription.

Or... I think you could order the mid Y-pipes for a 135i N55, and use those. I have always wondered IF they would be just a straight bolt on. Last time I checked at my German dealer they were going for 400 euros. So... they aren't cheap. Btw the PE sells for 670 euros for just the part/kit. +110 euros for one hours labor fro teh install.

That would be "warranty hours" BMW does not publish and or supply retail labor time guides. As a rule of thumb retail rate is usually about 1.5 times the warranty rate..

in this case if 1.1 was the warranty rate, then the retail rate would be 1.7 hours x shop labor rate..

1.5 to 1.7 or 1.8 would not be totally out of line for replacement of a rear silencer..
