Basically any 135 N54 intake will work.

I'd be interested to see a dyne and Vbox data of a DCI vs the AFE. The DCI is surprisingly effective.

Spoke with Dinan, their 135 N54 motor intake will NOT fit the 1 M

I have been thinking about seeing if the engine bay is big enough for the "Mr. 5 intake" a lot of 335i guys have done. Testing over on N54tech shows its better performance wise than a DCI.

Yes, this intake is great but there is no space for the cone filter in the 1M's front bumper

True. The Helix idea and/or "cowl induction" may be beneficial.

+1, the second cooler on our cars gets in the way. The Stett CAI will fit for the same reason.

Here's a list I put together a list of what will or won't work,

Will Fit :
Any DCI varient ( BMS, Vishnu, CP-E, ETS, etc)
BMS Single Cone intake
aFe Power Stage II
aFe Power Stage II Si
Injen Intake
666 Fabrication Intake
Riss Racing Intake (Company now defunct)
Helix intake (prototype/testing stage)

Won't Fit :
Dinan Carbon Fiber CAI
Stett CAI
Mr.5 intake

I'll add to this list as I come across them, I'll take a look again tonight to confirm how much space is under/behind the headlight and cooler area. This should confirm whether or not a smaller filter can be used to make the Mr.5 setup work.

Thinking about the AFE stage 2 Si now. It's a sealed box which is what I want and it also has an auxiliary port on the side of it to add an additional air intake such as the cowl idea. I found it available for only $400 bucks too, which is $120 off MSRP.

Just put on the AFE stage 2. I'm a little mixed, you hear the turbo's spool and gasp for air. At times its much louder than the exhaust which has a much better sound imo.
Very good product in regards to fit and finish.

Either the AFE systems is a good addition for the 1M.

I personally prefer the sealed vs the dual open cones.

Why do you like the sealed better than the open cones? Might help me make a better decision in the future.

Thanks

I would guess because of heat soak. The dual cones offer more surface area but still sucks in engine heat.
