% MT vs Auto; Leather vs leatherette ?
Has anyone seen any info on approximately the percent of 1-series cars going out the door with MTs vs auto-trans? And/or, percent going out the door with leather vs. leatherette?
I talked to a couple dealers, and they gave me info on 335i, but they both said they didn't have an idea on what that was for 1-series. I'm even more specifically interested for 135i itself. I found out for the 3-series (excluding M): 90% Auto-trans, 10% MT 95% Leather, 5% leatherette |

no clue BUT I would think it skews a bit more toward 6MT on the 1 series and likely a slightly lower skem to leatherette. Just a guess.
I found it vritually impossible to find a 6MT sitting unsold on a dealer lot around my area. |

you never know, the manual guys generally tend to post on the net, while the auto guys dont, most dealerships order all their cars as autos

99% of 125/135's sold in AUS are autos, and ALL are leather standard.

6MT and leatherette here. Would make the same decision if I had to do it all over again.

When I was looking for an '09 to buy before I decided to order a 2010, there were only about 80 135s in the region that my CA could pull from. Of those, only 6 were MT.

I think a lot of us on here on MT. I'm also Leatherette. Perhaps a poll is in order?

The combinations might be interesting too. For example, maybe allthe auto-trans are leather ? something like that? High percentage of leatheretts are MTs? MT/Leatherette MT/Leather Auto/Leatherette Auto/Leather |

If you do a poll on here it will definitely not tell you what the majority of the 1 buying population is buying. People on forums like these are very skewed in one direction.
My guess is that at least 60%, if not more, of the 1's sold in North America are AT's.

6MT with leatherette here: the best combo IMHO. Saves money, in order to buy the other pricey options.......like IDrive/Nav and M-pack!!

Not current data but I was very surprised when a dealer showed me the numbers on all lots or en route ordered cars back in Jan. it was somewhere near 60/40 auto to manual from what I recall. The very few 128 coupe manuals I could find in my area were basically strippers, none with sport package or ipod adapters (2 of the most popular options on orders if I had to guess). I couldn't get my head around that strategy.

MT & leatherette also. The first is a necessity, the second is me being cheap (relatively speaking).

i think dealers order more automatics, but MTs are in much higher demand because there are fewer of them. the dealer laughed at me when i asked to test drive a MT.....they are already sold when they come off the trucks. i had to test drive a 335i MT (also already sold)...
first time i drove a 135i MT was when I'd already bought it.

Looking at all used 3-series models being sold by BMW dealers in the US (as there are not enough 1-series available yet to give a meaningful result), 8.6% are manual. In Canada 27.3% are manual.
