135i Financing Rate Change (0.9% vs. 2.9%)

I am a bit bummed. I bought my car last Saturday and got 2.9% financing from BMW North America. The 2.9% rate was their promotional rate though 10-31-08. Today, I look at the website and now the rate is 0.9% through 10-31-08. I plan to call BMW NA on Monday to see what can be done about me getting the lower rate. I sort of feel that it is not fair. Technically, I bought the car during the promotional period and feel that I should get the lower rate as well. Is anyone here in a similar position? Any advice or suggestions for when I call BMW NA? Do I even have a chance?

Thanks! I don't mean to complain. Something just does not feel right here. If the lower rate of 0.9% was effective Nov. 1st, I would be totally okay with things.

Thanks, again!

How much money are you saving 0.9% vs 2.9%? 60mo?

I can't cancel --- I already bought the car. If they will honor the 0.9% rate, I will save about $2,500 over a 60 month period.

In Canada we have a "cooling off" clause during which you can return your vehicle and cancel your deal. Nothing like that in CA? Not even a 7 day satisfaction warranty?

I looked at the dealer's websites and the special financing rate only applies to specific "in stock" vehicles, not all vehicles. That may make it more difficult for you to negotiate.

You might be able to do that in your state but that is not the case in most states.

I don't know if there is much you can do. I think it is worth contacting BMWFS, but I wouldn't expect to have anything come out of it. Prices and finance rates change and when sometimes you miss out because of timing.

Thanks for the input. We do not have a cooling off period here in California.

I will call BMW tomorrow. I will try to make my case by stating that I bought my car during their promotional period and that I feel justified to get the lower rate. I have never seen BMW change their rates mid-promotional period, so I felt confident that my rate was locked in until the end of October when I bought my car. The promotion started in September and was supposed to run until 10/31. They changed the rate on 10/4. How terrible for the person who might have bought on 10/3. I bought on 9/27. The effort is definitely worth a phone call.

I got a great price for my car (so that will make me feel better if they do not change my rate). niquev --- I got my car from Crevier.
