BMS/CM exploring an inexpensive quick mount meth kit!
BMS has been posting various updates on an inexpensive engine bay mount meth kit they are playing around with. It's still in the prototyping / exploratory phases but some of the information is pretty interesting! The pump location and meth pickup would make for a very fast install and removal. The system would be triggered by the JB4 eliminating the need for a special controller and allowing more sophisticated meth metering algorithms and would use CM's new failsafe box to monitor flow. They are also working on some new nozzle mount ideas. The attached photo was an early rejected nozzle design but the idea of putting the nozzle under the diverter valve so it sits flush with the charge pipe would shave a ton of time and aggravation off meth installs and removals. Installing a meth elbow or expensive charge pipe is the most time consuming and difficult part of any quick mount meth kit install.
I'll post updates and such here as I get them. |

I'm interested. Any guestimates of a price? As you've said, its early in delopment. But putting 'inexpensive' in the title means you have some kind of idea. I'm bouncing between cobb and jb4, and meth implimentation(sp?) is always a plus.

Procede has a new one coming out that just uses your existing windshield washer tank, no separate tank with hoses to run.

Are we talking the same sorts of power gains?

I like this idea...a quick install/removal kit would get a lot more folks to try out water/meth. when I installed my ERL meth kit back in '08 on my 535i I made it a quick install/removal too....I mounted the pump on a bracket in the engine bay, hooked the pump/pressure switch straight to the +pos terminal in the engine bay and used a Zephyrhills water bottle for the tank. Took me 10 minutes to install. I did change the charge pipe though, to not make any holes in the stock one for the nozzle.

No annoying tank in the trunk and running lines through the cabin = I want it now. If this comes out I will be first in line to buy it.

Mike,
I like this idea a lot. I would definitely be interested in going this route, especially with designing it to work seamlessly with the JB4. I think it would be even better to figure out a solution so that you can still use your windshield washers (both of them). Maybe a T before the nozzles, like you said in the first video. I am more interested in this as a permanent solution as opposed to a trunk mounted system. Any thoughts on alternative tanks that may fit in the little bit of space we have in the engine bay?

I'm all for that, but would like to think about some of the cons of using your washer fluid container.. Going to had to ward off people, especially if you take it in for service.. Like if I go get an oil change, and they top off fluids.. Last thing I want is washer fluid in the container..

That's interesting to say the least. Would you use it?
EDIT: How would this set up look for the N55?

Just thinking to myself... but a lot of people with tunes have aftermarket intakes. I don't know about some intakes, but the AFE I have now and the BMS DCI I had earlier both open up a decent sized area of the 1er's tiny cramped engine bay. Maybe enough room for a small meth tank? At least as an option, maybe...
But I don't care about using the washer fluid tank. I don't even use my wipers, I have a spray bottle and cloth. Don't want that run-off drying on my car's shiny finish Okay, maybe I have OCD tendencies haha. But even so, if the wipers still work, nobody should complain. Random question if anyone has the answer.. why use a methanol injection? What makes it different from the similarly widely available ethanol or 2-propanol? And again.. WHEN WILL THIS BE OUT
